Position Overview

We are seeking a Data Platform Operations Engineer responsible for deploying, maintaining, and monitoring Azure-based data platform environments. This role ensures optimal performance, reliability, and security of cloud infrastructure, enabling seamless analytics workflows and data-driven decision-making across the organization.

The engineer will play a key role in maintaining the stability of the Azure Data Landing Zone and enterprise analytics platform, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards. This position also involves mentoring team members and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to support business and technical initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Automate the deployment and maintenance of data platform infrastructure.

  • Provide primary support for implementing, upgrading, and maintaining cloud-based data environments.

  • Design and implement solutions to enhance system stability, resilience, and security.

  • Collaborate with data engineers, product teams, and vendors to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.

  • Ensure adherence to security standards and compliance requirements.

  • Perform root cause analysis and proactively identify opportunities for system improvements.

  • Monitor system performance and forecast capacity needs; develop tools to address future scalability challenges.

  • Maintain detailed technical documentation and operational processes.

  • Support disaster recovery planning and execution.

  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps practices.

  • 2+ years of experience deploying and managing infrastructure in Azure cloud environments.

  • Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), specifically using Terraform.

  • Hands-on experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible.

  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, particularly GitHub Actions.

  • Solid understanding of modern data platforms and cloud-based architectures.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience conducting and documenting technical analysis.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to create and maintain technical and business documentation.

  • Good understanding of networking concepts, including LAN and WAN.

  • Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint).

  • Willingness to work in an on-call rotation and provide off-hours support.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.

  • Hands-on experience with Databricks and cloud-based data processing tools.

  • Experience with Azure Database services, including PostgreSQL.

  • Familiarity with database change management tools such as Liquibase.

  • Experience using Azure CLI for resource management.

  • Experience configuring and monitoring cloud environments using Azure monitoring tools.

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

  • Experience administering Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server databases.

  • Azure certifications.

  • Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., HIPAA-compliant systems).

Work Environment
  • Hybrid work model with partial on-site presence required.

  • Standard business hours with participation in an on-call rotation.
