Salary Range: $123,000.00 To $156,000.00 Annually

Why Join Apple?

At Apple Federal Credit Union, weโ€™re more than a financial institution; weโ€™re a community-focused organization powered by passionate people. With 24 branches across Northern Virginia and a proud legacy of service, weโ€™re committed to improving the lives of our members and the communities we serve.

We believe our employees are our greatest asset. Thatโ€™s why we foster a supportive workplace culture that values inclusiveness, innovation and growth. Whether youโ€™re just starting out or advancing your career, youโ€™ll find opportunities for professional development, mentorship and meaningful impact.

Why Work at Apple FCU

  • Recognized as a WTOP Top Workplaces (2026)
  • Collaborative, welcoming environment with forward-thinking leadership
  • Medical, dental and vision coverage
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Paid time off and 11 paid federal holidays
  • Tuition reimbursement and ongoing training opportunities

The Cloud Integration Engineer IV will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable integrations between the credit unionโ€™s core systems, new CRM, and other approved applications and services. This position requires advanced expertise in cloud integration architecture, API and microservices integration, interface orchestration, monitoring, security, and operational reliability. Integration solutions may be implemented using an approved iPaaS solution, Microsoft Azure resources, or a combination of both.

The successful candidate will provide senior technical guidance for integration decisions and translate business and application requirements into practical technical solutions. The position will collaborate with stakeholders including Software Engineering, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Product, CRM, core-system, vendor, and business teams to deliver resilient and maintainable integrations. The role focuses on application and system connectivity and does not own enterprise data integration or transformation activities.

Within the CRM, workflow, and integration environment, this is the person who gets technical solutions built and launched. The position delivers the integration and configuration work needed to put new products, features, and member-facing workflows into production across the CRM, core systems, and approved iPaaS or Azure resources. It applies the credit unionโ€™s configure-first approach in day-to-day delivery and provides sound technical judgment on the appropriate use of configuration, low-code automation, and custom development, raising evidence-based concerns when new solutions begin to recreate the complexity the credit union is working to reduce.

Performs duties and responsibilities in accordance with The Apple Way principles of Team Up, Serve with Purpose, Challenge Yourself, and Own It. A keen awareness of and compliance with credit union policies and procedures, as well as regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act, is imperative. Performs other duties as needed for the smooth operation of credit union information technology.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Cloud Integration Architecture and Design

  • Design and implement secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-conscious integration architectures using an approved iPaaS solution, Microsoft Azure resources, or a combination of both.
  • Develop integration blueprints, interface specifications, interface diagrams, technical decision records, and supporting documentation.
  • Translate business and application requirements into practical interface, connectivity, security, deployment, and operational designs.
  • Select and evaluate iPaaS capabilities and Azure integration resources based on business needs, security requirements, resiliency, maintainability, supportability, and cost.
  • Design integration solutions that align with the credit unionโ€™s technology strategy, risk tolerances, regulatory obligations, and approved security practices.
  • Provide technical input into integration capacity, consumption, licensing, and cost-optimization decisions.

Integration Engineering and Automation

  • Configure, develop, and maintain integrations using the approved iPaaS solution and Azure integration resources.
  • Automate integration deployment and configuration using infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and repeatable release processes.
  • Build reusable interface components, connectors, routing, orchestration, and error-handling patterns.
  • Build the technical scaffolding that lets business configuration scale safely, including reusable connectors, validated interface contracts, integration components, test harnesses, and deployment automation that fit the approved environment-promotion and release model.
  • Support the full lifecycle of integration interfaces, including provisioning, configuration, testing, deployment, upgrades, versioning, decommissioning, and documentation.
  • Implement reliable retry, exception-handling, alerting, and dead-letter or failure-management processes as appropriate.
  • Partner with Infrastructure and Cybersecurity to establish appropriate interfaces for networking, identity, secrets, certificates, monitoring, and access management.

Core-System and CRM Integration

  • Design, implement, and maintain reliable interfaces between core systems, the new CRM, and other approved applications and services.
  • Design and maintain APIs, webhooks, message interfaces, event triggers, and orchestration processes.
  • Apply appropriate authentication, authorization, encryption, API versioning, resiliency, and performance practices.
  • Support synchronous APIs, asynchronous messaging, event-driven workflows, and other connectivity patterns appropriate to the source and target systems.
  • Establish monitoring, exception-handling, and operational support processes for CRM and core-system interfaces.
  • Collaborate with application, core-system, CRM, vendor, and business teams to resolve connectivity, compatibility, interface, and deployment issues.
  • Maintain integration specifications, API documentation, interface diagrams, runbooks, and support documentation using Confluence or a comparable tool.

Portfolio Modernization and Retirement

  • Build and maintain the authoritative inventory of custom applications, interfaces, scheduled jobs, core-resident customizations, and shadow dependencies. Record the owner, business purpose, consumers, systems or interfaces touched, and retirement disposition for each entry.
  • Produce and maintain a sequenced decomposition roadmap that identifies what can be replaced by CRM or workflow configuration, what belongs on the enterprise integration platform, what requires coordination with the enterprise data platform, what must be rewritten, and what should be retired.
  • Carry retirement work through to completion. Decommissioning includes DNS entries, credentials, application registrations, scheduled jobs, and orphaned infrastructure; verify that retired components are actually removed and no longer operational dependencies.
  • Reduce single-person dependency risk by documenting undocumented systems, capturing institutional knowledge in durable form, and crossโ€‘training engineers on newly documented components.
  • Track and report progress with meaningful measures, including interfaces retired, custom code and job counts reduced, coreโ€‘native customizations eliminated, mean time to restore, and change lead time.

Security, Reliability, and Operations

  • Ensure integrations use approved security controls and comply with applicable credit union policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Apply appropriate identity and accessโ€‘management practices, including managed identities, roleโ€‘based access, secure secret handling, encryption, and leastโ€‘privilege principles.
  • Design integrations for availability, resiliency, recoverability, observability, and ease of maintenance.
  • Ensure that everything this position builds on or around the CRM, workflow, and integration environments is inventoried, documented, monitored, and recoverable from day one. Escalate businessโ€‘configured automation that falls outside those expectations.
  • Monitor and optimise iPaaS workflows, Azure integration resources, APIs, interface routing, and deployment processes.
  • Troubleshoot complex cloud, integration, connectivity, and deployment issues and coordinate resolution with the appropriate IT teams.
  • Take personal ownership of the hardest technical problems in the integration portfolio, including production incidents involving interface, messageโ€‘delivery, connectivity, and dataโ€‘transfer failures within the roleโ€™s scope. Fix root causes and eliminate recurring manual workarounds.
  • Participate in technical incident response, rootโ€‘cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities related to integration services.

Technical Leadership and Collaboration

  • Provide technical guidance to software engineers and other IT teams on iPaaS capabilities, Azure integration resources, API design, interface orchestration, deployment patterns, and integration approaches.
  • Serve as a technical resource to businessโ€‘side builders and the platform centre of excellence by unblocking integration problems, reviewing configurations that carry technical or security risk, documenting patterns, and offering workable alternatives when the platform cannot support the requested outcome.
  • Facilitate technical discovery and help stakeholders translate requirements into feasible CRM and coreโ€‘system integration solutions.
  • Lead or contribute to proofs of concept, technology evaluations, migration planning, and adoption of new cloud integration capabilities.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to technical and nonโ€‘technical stakeholders effectively.
  • Use approved AIโ€‘assisted development and engineering tools to improve delivery efficiency, testing support, infrastructure automation, and documentation while following organisational security policies.
  • Use Jira for project tracking, Postman for API testing, Confluence for documentation and collaboration, source control, and comparable tools.

Education:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience and relevant certifications may be considered.
  • Cloud integration, cloud security, or DevOps certification is a plus.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in software engineering, integration engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing production integrations using an iPaaS solution, Microsoft Azure, or a comparable cloud platform.
  • At least 3 years of experience designing and implementing APIs, microservices, messaging, interface orchestration, or comparable integration solutions.
  • Experience with iPaaS solutions, Azure integration resources, infrastructure as code, CI/CD automation, APIs, microservices, messaging, and production operations.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex cloud, integration, deployment, and availability issues.
  • Experience working with crossโ€‘functional technical teams and thirdโ€‘party technology providers.
  • Financialโ€‘services or other regulatedโ€‘industry experience is preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Expertโ€‘level knowledge of Microsoft Azure integration services and cloudโ€‘native application services, with the ability to evaluate and use an iPaaS solution.
  • Strong understanding of API design, API management, authentication, authorization, encryption, versioning, and integration patterns.

  • Understanding of monitoring, logging, distributed tracing, alerting, resiliency, disaster recovery, and cloud cost optimisation.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery, Gitโ€‘based workflows, Jira, Postman, Confluence, and comparable tools.

Interpersonal Skill :

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problemโ€‘solving abilities.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity, including inheriting undocumented systems and creating clarity around them.
  • Inclined toward rootโ€‘cause fixes over recurring workarounds, balanced with practical judgment about sequencing and member impact.

Physical Requirements :

  • The ability to lift 25 pounds and utilise standard office equipment including, but not limited to, PC, fax, copier, telephone, and related equipment.
  • Ability to function effectively in a financial institution environment.
