Job description

The Director of IT Infrastructure is responsible for the strategy, design, implementation, and ongoing operations of the companyโ€™s enterprise IT infrastructure across on-premises and public cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services). Leads an infrastructure team to support business needs, drive modernization, and ensure reliability and scalability in alignment with pharmaceutical industry standards. Onsite 5 days a week.

Responsibilities
  • Define and execute a multi-year IT infrastructure roadmap.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop an infrastructure team across multiple sites.
  • Partner with IS leadership and business stakeholders on investments and compliance requirements.
  • Establish and manage infrastructure budgets, vendor contracts, and technology refresh cycles.
  • Develop and communicate infrastructure KPIs, SLAs, and operational metrics.
  • Oversee virtualization infrastructure design, deployment, and lifecycle management.
  • Manage Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Drive hybrid cloud strategy and operations across Azure and AWS (workload placement, cost, performance).
  • Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
  • Oversee network infrastructure (LAN/WAN and SD-WAN) across sites and cloud tenants.
  • Oversee server patching and configuration management standards.
  • Lead capacity planning and performance monitoring.
  • Ensure infrastructure compliance; support audits with documentation/evidence.
  • Maintain/test disaster recovery and incident response plans.
  • Lead infrastructure projects (consolidations, cloud migrations, site expansions).
  • Manage vendor/MSP relationships and service delivery accountability.
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies.
Requirements
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in CS/IS/IT or related field.
  • 10+ years progressive IT infrastructure; 4+ years senior director-level leadership.
  • Hands-on virtualization expertise (VMware, Nutanix, Hyper-V).
  • Microsoft Active Directory management experience.
  • Strong AWS and Azure knowledge (architecture, operations, cost management, security).
  • Multi-site enterprise IT in a regulated industry.
  • Experience building/developing high-performing infrastructure teams.
  • Network architecture/security understanding; ITIL service management.
  • Pharma/biotech compliance frameworks (GxP, SOX, HIPAA).
Preferred
  • VMware/Azure/AWS/ITIL v4 certifications.
  • Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible, Bicep).
  • OT/IT convergence experience in pharma/life sciences.
  • Strategic, communicative, organized, collaborative, data-driven, continuous improvement.
Pay range

Wisconsin $190,000โ€“$210,000; California $210,000โ€“$230,000.

Candidates must have current, valid authorization to work in the country where the role is located.
