Job Title: Sr DevOps Engineer (Hybrid)
Duration: Full Time
Location: Baltimore Maryland
Job Description:
The Sr DevOps Engineer will be responsible for evolving the technology supporting the Bureau of Revenue Collection (BRC) strategic objectives. The expectation is that the ideal candidate will decompose the business processes, develop a stabilization strategy, and execute the resultant plans to completion. The Sr DevOps Engineer will enumerate and identify current technology assets and establish a roadmap for the improvement or replacement of any technology in place that is not up to the standards proposed by client.
The candidate will be accountable for ensuring all systems are designed for change, loosely coupled, and sustainable. The candidate will work within budget constraints, and policies provided by client, and the candidate will influence strategic build/buy decisions as well as establish the vendor management framework for purchased solutions.
Summary of Responsibilities:
  • Build and Manage Infrastructure: Design, set up, and maintain robust infrastructure using both on premise and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS) to support our applications, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
  • Continuous Integration and Deployment: Develop and manage automated CI/CD pipelines in both our on-premise Azure-DevOps environment and our GitHub Enterprise to streamline the build, testing, and deployment processes for .NET applications, reducing time-to-market and increasing overall efficiency.
  • Configuration Management: Implement configuration management tools to automate and secure software configuration, system updates, and ensure consistency across multiple environments.
  • Monitoring and Performance Optimization: Monitor system health, application performance, and resource utilization using monitoring tools and proactively optimize the environment to maintain peak performance.
  • Security and Compliance: Work closely with client's InfoSec team to implement best practices for securing applications, including access controls, encryption, and vulnerability management. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations, as well as bringing security consciousness earlier into the development process.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, testers, and business operations, to foster a culture of collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
  • Troubleshooting and Incident Response: Investigate and resolve complex technical issues related to infrastructure, deployment, and application performance promptly, providing quick and effective solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to the infrastructure, deployment processes, and operational procedures to facilitate knowledge transfer and team scalability.
  • BRC Engagement: Maintain a deep understanding of BRC's strategic objectives, business processes, capabilities, and challenges. Understands and transforms business requirements into scalable/manageable systems architecture and design specifications for reliability, scalability, security, and integration. Solves complex problems with many variables using various security, network, storage, and compute platforms.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.

  • Application Development Lead - 2 year(s)

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Leadership skills, with the ability to develop and communicate the project objectives, inspire and motivate the application team, and maintain alignment with the business strategy.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of popular SDLC models, process, deliverables, and application.
  • Deep C#/VB.NET/HTML/CSS/Javascript and Database Transactional and Decision Support language experience.
  • Deep conceptual grasp of popular design patterns for object-oriented software development.
  • Deep experience with the Microsoft .NET eco-system.
  • Deep experience with Microsoft SQL Server (SSMS, SSAS, SSIS, RS, etc...)
  • Deep experience with managing code repositories in TFS/Azure DevOps/GitHub and git in particular.
  • Demonstrated experience in server administration, Windows Servers, Azure resources.
  • Deep experience with Microsoft Development Platforms and tools (VisualStudio, VisualStudio Code, etc...)
