This is a fixed hybrid role on-site Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday at HQ in Maple Plain MN

The Senior DevOps Engineer plays a critical role in supporting and advancing Protolabs’ internal and external business applications by partnering closely with IT, development teams, and other technology stakeholders. This position is responsible for ensuring the reliable provisioning, configuration, operation, and maintenance of DevOps platforms, including version control systems, build tools, and continuous integration pipelines, enabling scalable, secure, and high-performing technology solutions.
What You'll Do
  • Contribute to the provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of version control systems, build pipelines, and continuous integration tooling
  • Partner with development teams to support applications, enhance reliability, and promote site reliability engineering practices
  • Identify and implement opportunities to increase deployment stability while reducing manual intervention
  • Design and maintain high‑availability solutions, including load balancer configuration and optimization
  • Participate in 24/7 operational coverage, including periodic after‑hours work and on‑call responsibilities
  • Support the growth of the team by mentoring and training colleagues, promoting best practices and knowledge sharing
What It Takes
  • Bachelor’s degree OR minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience
  • 5+ years experience managing servers in an enterprise environment
  • 5+ years experience supporting code releases into highly available applications
  • 2+ years experience supporting server configuration management tooling
  • 2+ years experience supporting highly available applications
  • Must have the ability to take manual processes and automate them
