Job description

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.
JOB SUMMARY - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
Evaluates system specifications, configures virtual and physical computer systems, establishes standards, ensures hardware/software compatibility and maintains development workstations and cloud server systems.
Responsibilities -- You will:
  • Perform the daily operational support on the virtual machine operating system for development workstations and application servers, to include system security, access control, configuration, and automated backup.
  • Specify virtual machine compute, store, and network requirements, monitor network and virtual machine performance, troubleshoot virtual networking hardware and ensure systems are functional and performing.
  • Provide operational status metrics to JT4 and government leadership, as required.
  • Analyze system logs and identify and remediate potential issues with development computer systems and virtual application servers.
  • Utilize automated tools for system configuration management and vulnerability analysis and remediate vulnerabilities and non-compliant configurations in accordance with the System Security Plan.
  • Generate documentation of configuration, policy, and procedures used in the Risk Management Framework System Authorization process, when required by the Information System Security Manager (ISSM).
  • Interact daily with the development team, ensuring their system administration needs are met and informing the supervisor of any blockers or critical status updates.
  • Track hardware assets used by the development team, including network machines and development machines, reporting status to government Equipment Custodian, as required.
  • Use established policies and procedures and subject matter knowledge to complete complex assignments requiring originality and ingenuity performed under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for independent contribution.
  • Attend meetings, deliver reports, and act as the supervisor's delegate, as required.
  • Perform other assigned duties, as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities -- You need:
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems
  • Working knowledge of operation and maintenance of Linux operating systems
  • Working understanding of principles and maintenance of virtual and cloud systems
  • Skills to secure configuration of development laptops and virtual workstations and servers
  • Essential understanding of software development concepts, agile methodology, CI/CD and DevSecOps principles
  • Effective time management skills and strong oral and written communication skills

Additional Valuable Skills -- You should have:
  • Experience with AWS cloud system administration, including EC2 and EBS
  • Understanding of DoW security tools for vulnerability management, configuration management, and malware prevention
  • Functional knowledge of the Atlassian suite of development tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket)
  • Functional knowledge of deployment tools (Jenkins, Artifactory, Gitlab pipelines)
  • Experience with Azure cloud systems and AzureDevOps
  • DoD Developmental Test & Evaluation Community Experience
  • Understanding of SQL Database tools (Oracle SQL Developer)
  • Essential knowledge of containerization, (Docker, Podman)
  • Basic understanding of Waterfall development methodology

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in associated discipline from an accredited academic institution or equivalent experience through technical training, completion of a recognized certification program, or experience. Requires at least 12 years of experience in computer system related areas of expertise. Must possess and apply a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in computer science, graphics, and information systems. Must have specific experience in the maintenance of Operating Systems and support applications, in a centralized and distributed server environment. The incumbent must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines. Must qualify for and maintain a government security clearance and possess a valid, state issued driver's license.
SALARY
The expected salary range for this position is $120,000 to $170,000 annually.

JT4, LLC considers factors such as (but not limited to) responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards. There is occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting and use of a computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while writing, reviewing, and editing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness
