Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Finance Consultant for Microsoft Dynamics 365 FSCM who can lead an assigned functional workstream from requirements through validation, translating business needs into solution design and driving day-to-day execution within their functional area.


This is a highly client-facing consulting role requiring deep accounting knowledge and functional expertise within D365 Finance. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary finance subject matter expert, has worked on multiple full lifecycle D365 FSCM implementations from discovery through go-live and stabilization, and is ready to design and optimize client business processes.


Role Scope & Responsibilities


Functional Design & Analysis

  • Leads requirements, discovery sessions, and fit-gap analysis for assigned finance scenarios and workstreams
  • Defines how business processes should be implemented in the system, including configuration approach, expected functional behavior and evaluation of fit with standard system capabilities
  • Prepares functional design documentation, including FDDs and related specifications needed for downstream development
  • Defines functional requirements and data flows for integrations and supports implementation data migration activities
  • Helps define role-based access, security roles, and segregation-of-duties considerations within the solution


Solution Validation & Quality

  • Defines validation scope and prepares test scenarios aligned to requirements and design
  • Drives functional validation through QA and UAT readiness
  • Coordinates consultants and analysts supporting the workstream and keeps execution moving across design, testing, and issue resolution
  • Works with architects, managers, and engineers to resolve blockers and maintain delivery momentum


Team Guidance & Development

  • Provides ongoing guidance, feedback, and execution support to assigned team members
  • Supports development and readiness of Consultants and Analysts within the finance workstream


Core Accountabilities

  • Leads functional work within an assigned finance workstream
  • Drives day-to-day progression of work from analysis through validation
  • Owns the quality and completeness of key functional deliverables within scope
  • Coordinates workstream execution across functional, technical, delivery, and reporting support roles


Functional Expertise Requirements

Candidates must demonstrate hands-on implementation experience configuring and deploying the following D365 FSCM modules:


Required – Core System Expertise

  • General Ledger – COA and financial dimension design, intercompany, allocations, multi-currency, consolidations, financial reporting
  • Accounts Payable – vendor posting profiles, invoice matching, payment processing, settlements, 1099 processing (US)
  • Accounts Receivable – customer posting profiles, invoicing, cash application, credit and collections
  • Cash & Bank Management – bank reconciliation, payments, customer/vendor netting
  • Fixed Assets – asset books, acquisitions, depreciation, and disposals
  • Cost Management – standard costing, production costing, costing sheets, inventory recalculation and closing


Nice to Have – Additional Breadth

  • Budgeting – budget models and plans, financial reporting
  • Project Accounting – project contracts, WBS, project journals and invoicing
  • Tax – sales tax groups, VAT/GST/HST, tax reporting
  • Cost Accounting – cost objects and elements, allocation bases, cost reporting

Experience Requirements


Senior Consulting Experience

  • End-to-end D365 FSCM implementations and Dynamics AX 2012 and/or D365 migration projects
  • Fit/gap Workshops and Functional Design Documents (FDDs)
  • Conference Room Pilots (CRPs), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and Go-Live Readiness
  • Assessments
  • Post Go-Live Support and Stabilization


Required

  • 5+ years of ERP consulting experience
  • 5+ years of focused, hands-on D365 Finance & Supply Chain
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ full lifecycle D365 Finance (or AX 2012) implementations
  • Proven experience leading finance fit-gap analysis, functional design, and validation activities
  • Strong communication skills with experience working directly with finance stakeholders and client SMEs
  • Experience supporting and coordinating junior consultants and analysts
  • Experience with integrations, reporting, and finance data migration is a strong asset


Microsoft Certifications (Preferred)

  • MB-300 – Microsoft Dynamics 365 Core Finance and Operations
  • MB-310 – Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance Functional Consultant
  • MB-700 – Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations Apps Solution Architect


Salary & Benefits

The total compensation for this role is $100k to $150k, depending on years of comparable experience, skill set, and the unique value you bring.
Must be legally entitled to work in the United States.
