Job description

Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Senior Data Platform Engineer for our partner, an established healthcare services organization modernizing its technology and data capabilities. This is a direct hire, on onsite position located in Addison, Texas.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Data Platform Engineer will build, operate, and secure a modern Snowflake data platform using a medallion architecture. Working closely with the Data Architect, this hands-on engineer will develop ingestion pipelines, dbt transformations, dimensional models, and governance controls that turn sensitive operational data into trusted business insights. This high-ownership opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys managing the full data lifecycle and helping shape a growing data environment.

PERKS
  • Employee benefits package, with complete details to be provided during the interview process
  • High-impact opportunity to help build and shape a modern enterprise data platform
  • Broad ownership across Snowflake, dbt, data modeling, governance, security, and pipeline development
  • Collaborative environment with opportunities to mentor teammates and expand modern data-stack capabilities
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Onboard data from SQL Server databases and SaaS applications through REST APIs, ODBC, SFTP, file feeds, native connectors, incremental-loading methods, and CDC patterns.
  • Build, maintain, and monitor pipelines across the bronze, silver, and gold layers using Snowflake, dbt, SQL, Python, Azure Data Factory, and modern orchestration tools.
  • Develop dimensional data models, including fact and dimension tables, appropriate grain, conformed dimensions, and slowly changing dimensions, while translating business requirements into maintainable transformations.
  • Manage the Snowflake environment, including warehouses, roles, resource monitors, platform performance, cost management, reliability, scheduling, dependencies, and failure resolution.
  • Protect PHI, PII, and other sensitive data by implementing RBAC, least-privilege access, masking, row-access policies, audit logging, lineage, and governance controls.
  • Establish data-quality tests, validation checks, source-to-warehouse reconciliation, and consistent business definitions while serving as a hands-on technical resource to other engineers.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or a closely related role.
  • Advanced SQL skills and hands-on experience designing dimensional data models, including fact tables, dimension tables, grain, conformed dimensions, and slowly changing dimensions.
  • Production experience with dbt, medallion architecture, modern ELT patterns, and a cloud data warehouse; Snowflake experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience building ingestion pipelines from both SQL databases and SaaS or API-based sources using REST APIs, ODBC, SFTP, file feeds, native connectors, incremental loading, or CDC.
  • Proficiency with Python and experience with orchestration or integration technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Dagster, Airflow, Prefect, Snowpipe, Streams and Tasks, or Snowflake Openflow.
  • Experience implementing access and security controls for sensitive or regulated data, including RBAC, data masking, row-level access, audit logging, or comparable protections.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently own a production data platform within a small team, including pipeline reliability, monitoring, troubleshooting, data quality, security, performance, and cost management; healthcare, revenue cycle management, HIPAA/PHI, NetSuite, Paycom, Power BI, or SnowPro experience is preferred.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position offers competitive compensation salary range of $135-145k/yr (DOE) and an employee benefits package.

Compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, technical expertise, certifications, and other job-related qualifications.
