Job Summary:
Cognizant is seeking an experienced Data Architect with expertise in Azure Data Platform and Databricks to design and deliver scalable data solutions. The role involves defining enterprise-grade data architectures, guiding engineering teams, and supporting business-critical data initiatives.
Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain core data architecture frameworks leveraging Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, and Databricks
• Define and communicate technical architecture decisions, including constraints, trade-offs, and design standards
• Design scalable, flexible, and reusable data solutions aligned with enterprise strategy
• Provide guidance on deployment strategies, ensuring solutions are safe, incremental, and reversible
• Lead the development of standard methodologies, frameworks, and reusable components
• Collaborate with technical leads, project managers, and data engineers to review and validate solution designs
• Establish and enforce data engineering best practices, governance, and coding standards
• Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies to improve data platform efficiency and scalability
• Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks and challenges, ensuring timely resolution
• Stay current with evolving trends in data platforms, cloud technologies, and data engineering practices
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems
• 8+ years of experience designing and implementing enterprise data solutions
• Proven experience as a Data Architect within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF)
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Synapse Analytics
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Databricks
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure Functions & Logic Apps
• Expertise in data warehousing and modeling techniques: Dimensional modeling, Star schema, Data Vault, Medallion architecture
• Experience with modern data platforms and tools: Databricks, Spark, Snowflake, Kafka, Hadoop, or Dremio
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL)
• Advanced proficiency in Python and Spark-based data processing
• Deep knowledge of ETL/ELT frameworks, including batch and real-time data processing
• Experience designing data solutions for API, .NET, and analytics consumption (e.g., Power BI)
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps
• Familiarity with ARM templates
• Familiarity with Automation tools (PowerShell, Azure Automation, AZ Copy)
Preferred:
• Strong experience creating architecture artifacts and high-level data models
• Ability to lead technical discussions and influence stakeholders across varying perspectives
• Demonstrated ability to drive alignment and deliver results in complex environments
