Purpose: Avelo Airlines is seeking a strategic and technically adept Manager of IT Cloud to lead the design, deployment, and optimization of our Azure-based cloud infrastructure. This role will drive innovation across compute, containers, databases, DevOps, monitoring, networking, security, storage, and web/mobility services, while integrating third-party observability and performance tools such as Fastly, Grafana, and Prometheus.


Responsibilities:

1.   Manage scalable, secure, and resilient Azure cloud environments across multiple regions.

2.   Lead a team of cloud engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams including Security, Networking, Data, Development and Program Management.

3.   Drive automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform templates.

4.   Oversee Azure services including:

  • Compute: VMs, Azure Functions, App Services
  • Containers: AKS, Container Instances
  • Databases: Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL
  • Monitor: Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Defender for Cloud
  • Networking: VNets, NSGs, ExpressRoute, DNS, FrontDoor, Fastly
  • Security: RBAC, Conditional Access, Encryption
  • Storage: Blob, File, Disk, Archive
  • Web & Mobility: App Services and API Management

5.   Integrate and manage third-party tools:

  • Fastly for edge delivery and CDN
  • Grafana for custom dashboards and visualization
  • Prometheus for metrics collection and alerting

Requirements

  • Must possess the following certifications: Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) and Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104).
  • Bachelor's degree in business management, IT, engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure or cloud engineering.
  • 2+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven expertise in Microsoft Azure services and ecosystem.
  • Hands-on experience with IaC, CI/CD, and cloud-native security.
  • Familiarity with observability platforms and performance monitoring tools.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • The following certifications are preferred but not required: Microsoft Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500), Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), and/or Microsoft Azure DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400).
