Job description

Axios Professional Recruitment is partnering with a manufacturing company in the Kentwood area seeking an experienced Production Scheduler to support shop floor operations and ensure efficient production flow.


This role is responsible for developing production schedules, analyzing material requirements, managing inventory levels, releasing work orders, and collaborating with multiple departments to ensure on-time delivery and operational efficiency.


Responsibilities:

  • Review customer demand, sales order reports, and production requirements to establish daily and weekly production priorities
  • Develop and maintain production schedules that maximize equipment utilization, minimize waste, and support on-time delivery goals
  • Manage planned and firm-planned orders, customer forecasts, and production workloads across multiple work centers
  • Release production work orders based on material availability and production requirements
  • Coordinate with Purchasing to expedite raw materials, tooling, and other resources as needed
  • Collaborate with Customer Service and Operations teams to accommodate schedule changes, rush orders, and customer requests
  • Identify production capacity constraints and work with Operations to develop solutions that improve workflow and efficiency
  • Schedule production orders strategically to optimize material usage, machine setups, and overall manufacturing performance
  • Monitor work order completion and ensure accurate closure of production orders while investigating and resolving variances
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counting, inventory audits, and system updates
  • Generate reports, production documentation, and inventory records to support operational decision-making
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and perform additional duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, production planning, scheduling, supply chain, or related field
  • Experience working within ERP systems for planning, work orders, inventory management, and production scheduling
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Production, Purchasing, Customer Service, and Operations teams


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with production scheduling and capacity planning
  • Automotive manufacturing experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives
