The Axel Group is seeking a Senior Project Designer for our client's team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic design firm specializing in a variety of commercial and institutional projects. The successful candidate will lead design efforts, develop creative solutions, and oversee project documentation to ensure high-quality outcomes across diverse project types.
Responsibilities:
- Lead projects from programming and conceptual design through construction documentation and construction administration
- Develop innovative interior design solutions aligned with client goals, budget, and project requirements
- Produce and coordinate detailed construction documents, specifications, finish plans, elevations, and interior details
- Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, consultants, and project managers throughout all phases of design
- Coordinate furniture, fixtures, finishes, lighting, and material selections
- Present design concepts and incorporate client feedback throughout the process
- Ensure compliance with building codes, ADA requirements, and industry standards
- Mentor junior designers and provide guidance on design development and documentation
- Participate in client meetings, site visits, field measurements, and construction observations
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining quality, schedules, and deadlines
- Coordinate drawing packages and maintain project documentation using Revit and AutoCAD
Requirements:
- 6–10 years of commercial design experience, preferably within an architecture or interior design firm
- Interior design experience is required; architectural experience is strongly preferred
- Experience working on diverse project types including commercial, retail, education, religious, corporate, healthcare, or mixed-use
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD is required
- Strong understanding of space planning, construction documentation, finish selections, and detailing
- Knowledge of building systems, construction methods, building codes, and ADA requirements
- Excellent presentation, communication, and client relationship skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field preferred
- NCIDQ certification, architectural licensure, or pursuit of professional registration is a plus
Compensation:
Salary range up to $100,000.00 annually
