Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Technical Product Manager to lead our Platform Modernization initiatives focused on transforming legacy retail systems into a scalable, cloud-native, event‑driven architecture. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in AWS serverless technologies (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB), microservices, service mesh architectures (Istio, Linkerd, Consul), and a proven track record of building enterprise-grade platforms in the Retail or eCommerce industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Platform Modernization & Architecture:

  • Drive the product vision and roadmap for enterprise-wide platform modernization, enabling scalability, resilience, and high developer velocity.
  • Lead the migration of monolithic retail systems into serverless or microservices-based architectures on AWS.
  • Partner with architecture teams to design API-first, event-driven, cloud-native platform components.

Service Mesh & Distributed Systems:

  • Define strategy and adoption roadmap for Service Mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd, Consul), ensuring observability, security, east–west traffic management, and reliability across microservices.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to implement zero-trust networking, circuit breakers, and intelligent routing.

Serverless & Cloud Technologies:

  • Oversee the adoption and scaling of AWS Lambda, step functions, event buses (EventBridge/Kafka), and serverless integration patterns.
  • Optimize cost, performance, and reliability of serverless and microservices workloads.

Retail Industry Focus:

  • Translate unique retail operational needs—such as inventory accuracy, real-time order orchestration, omnichannel experiences, store operations automation, and POS modernization—into platform capabilities.
  • Work closely with business teams in merchandising, supply chain, store tech, and digital commerce.

Product Management:

  • Own the end-to-end product lifecycle: strategy, roadmap, requirements, backlog, delivery, and adoption.
  • Conduct stakeholder alignment with engineering, data, security, business, and leadership teams.
  • Define and track KPIs tied to developer experience, reliability (SLOs/SLIs), cost optimization, and platform usage.

Governance, Security & Compliance:

  • Work with security & compliance teams to ensure modernized platforms adhere to PCI, SOC2, and retail‑specific compliance requirements.
  • Ensure consistent enforcement of API governance, documentation standards, and platform guardrails.

Required Skills & Experience:

Technical Expertise:

  • Strong knowledge of modern cloud platforms, ideally AWS, including:
    • AWS Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, EventBridge
    • ECS/EKS, serverless patterns, containerization
  • Hands‑on understanding of Service Mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd, Consul).
  • Deep experience with microservices architectures, distributed systems, and observability tooling.

Retail Industry Experience:

  • 5+ years in Retail / eCommerce platform engineering or product management.
  • Demonstrated understanding of:
    • Order management systems (OMS)
    • Inventory & supply chain systems
    • Customer experience platforms
    • Store technology & omnichannel flows

Product & Leadership Skills:

  • Proven ability to define and deliver technical roadmaps.
  • Strong background in working with engineering teams (agile, scrum, DevOps).
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in AWS (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Developer).
  • Experience with OpenTelemetry, API Management platforms (Apigee, Kong), or cloud migration programs.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/CDK), and SRE practices.
