Job description

Job Title: Python Developer with Apache Flink

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid – 2–3 Days/Week Onsite)

Duration: Long-Term Contract

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Python Developer with strong Apache Flink expertise to design, develop, and optimize real-time stream processing applications for enterprise-scale data platforms. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building scalable streaming solutions using Apache Flink as the primary technology, along with strong Python development skills. This role involves developing high-performance, event-driven data pipelines and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver real-time analytics solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable real-time data processing applications using Apache Flink.
  • Build and optimize streaming data pipelines using Python.
  • Develop event-driven applications capable of processing high-volume, low-latency data streams.
  • Integrate Flink applications with messaging platforms such as Apache Kafka and other distributed systems.
  • Optimize Flink jobs for performance, scalability, fault tolerance, and reliability.
  • Develop reusable components, libraries, and frameworks to support streaming applications.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, software developers, and business stakeholders to deliver business-critical streaming solutions.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement performance improvements.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and CI/CD deployment activities.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for streaming applications and workflows.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of software development experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Apache Flink (Required).
  • Strong proficiency in Python programming.
  • Experience building real-time stream processing applications using Apache Flink.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience with Apache Kafka or similar messaging platforms.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with Git and Agile development methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and DevOps practices.
  • Knowledge of Spark, Hadoop, or other big data technologies is a plus.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
