How you'll make an impact:

The Senior Director of Software Engineering is responsible for leading the strategy, development, and adoption of engineering platforms, tools, and delivery capabilities that enable high-performing software teams across the organization. This leader will drive engineering excellence, modern software delivery practices, and platform standardization while partnering closely with Product, Architecture, Infrastructure, Security, and Engineering leadership.

Your role in action:

  • Define and execute the long-term vision for platform engineering, developer experience, engineering productivity, and software delivery excellence.
  • Lead multiple engineering teams responsible for internal developer platforms, automation, tooling, and delivery enablement.
  • Establish engineering standards, governance frameworks, and best practices that improve scalability, reliability, security, and delivery velocity.
  • Partner with senior technology and business stakeholders to align engineering investments with strategic priorities and measurable business outcomes.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
  • Lead the development of internal platforms and engineering capabilities that streamline software development, testing, deployment, and operational support.
  • Drive adoption of modern engineering practices including DevSecOps, GitOps, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD automation, and platform engineering.
  • Create reusable patterns and solutions that accelerate development while reducing complexity and operational risk.
  • Establish scalable standards for release management, observability, testing automation, deployment practices, and service reliability.
  • Champion developer productivity by improving tooling, workflows, and overall engineering experience.
  • Act as a catalyst for engineering modernization initiatives across multiple technology organizations.
  • Identify systemic delivery challenges, organizational bottlenecks, and process inefficiencies, implementing scalable solutions that improve outcomes.
  • Influence engineering leaders and teams in adopting new technologies, frameworks, and delivery models.
  • Build trusted partnerships across Product, Architecture, Infrastructure, Security, and Engineering functions.
  • Lead strategic transformation programs focused on engineering maturity, resilience, and operational effectiveness.
  • Provide executive-level guidance on software delivery architecture, cloud-native platforms, developer tooling, and automation strategies.
  • Partner with technology leaders to improve application performance, scalability, security, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Establish best practices for observability, monitoring, deployment automation, integration testing, and cloud optimization.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously advance organizational capabilities.
  • Ensure platform and engineering solutions align with enterprise architecture and security standards.

Could this be you? 

  • 15+ years of software engineering experience with at least 7+ years leading managers and multiple engineering teams.
  • Experience building Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) and developer experience programs.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale engineering transformation initiatives and driving organizational change.
  • Demonstrated success building and scaling high-performing software engineering organizations.
  • Strong experience with modern cloud-native architectures, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and platform engineering practices.
  • Experience developing enterprise software solutions using Java and Spring Boot frameworks.
  • Experience with deployment automation technologies such as Argo CD, Argo Rollouts, GitOps platforms, or equivalent tooling.
  • Deep understanding of software development lifecycle management, testing strategies, observability, monitoring, and operational excellence.
  • Experience managing engineering roadmaps, budgets, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, container platforms, and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
  • Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and engineering performance metrics.
  • Experience leading geographically distributed teams.
  • Experience implementing cloud cost governance and FinOps practices.
