Job description

Job Title: AWS Cloud Engineer
Location: NYC, NY
Duration: 12+ Months Contract
Job Description:
This role will be an integral part of the Infrastructure group, working closely with Digital & Application IT teams. The Cloud Engineer will be providing expertise, design, engineering, troubleshooting of the AWS/Azure cloud environments, collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure best practices for cloud computing are followed and applied. The Cloud Engineer will be part of the core team and report to the Platform Services Lead. The ideal candidate is a motivated and detail-oriented professional, designing, building, and managing services on AWS and Azure. The candidate will also be involved in end-to-end delivery of Enterprise cloud projects, with the hands-on contribution in building out Cloud Services as related to the deployment of IaaS/PaaS applications on AWS and Azure.
Qualifications:
  • BS or equivalent technical degree with 7-10 years of information technology experience.
  • Experience in data center operations in large enterprises including the implementation and support of private and hybrid public cloud computing environments.
  • 5+ years of experience in the IT industry, with a broad understanding of computing, storage, security, and network infrastructure.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience managing infrastructure/applications in AWS or Azure.
  • Deep understanding of services such as Security Groups, IAM, EC2, S3, ELB, EBS, RDS, Lambda, Dockers, etc. in AWS.
  • Hands-on experience with large AWS or Azure deployments involving multiple VPCs with varying degrees of segregation.
  • Cloud design for scalability, elasticity, and high availability.
  • Experience working with IDS, IPS, and security frameworks.
  • Understanding of monitoring applications and logging (i.e. Splunk, etc.).
  • Experience working with Agile and DevOps organizations that deliver 'Infrastructure as Code' in small iterative releases using toolsets such as Docker, Cloud Formation, Elastic Beanstalk.
  • Proven ability to perform in a collaborative, team-oriented environment with a strong customer orientation (internal and external).
  • Familiarity with ITIL methodology.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels within the organization.
  • Worked with the delivery of large, complex digital solutions in hosted, or hybrid environments.
  • Experience with DevOps tools, for example, Jenkins, Chef.
  • Worked in an environment that has used Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).
  • Ability to work in a VUCA environment.
  • Knowledge of Firewall, forward proxy, reverse proxy, DNS, CDN.
  • Firm grasp on Azure services security, authentication scenarios with Azure Active Directory.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Visio.
  • Outstanding customer service and interaction skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work independently under little supervision within a demanding client-centric environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player with a high level of initiative.
