Job description

STS Technical Services is hiring an experienced Avionics Technician in Fort Pierce, Florida, to support a growing Twin Otter restoration and rebuild program at St. Lucie County International Airport (KFPR).
This opportunity is designed for an experienced avionics professional with strong troubleshooting, installation and Garmin systems experience. The Avionics Technician will take a lead role in avionics work throughout complete aircraft tear-downs, restorations and rebuilds.
All openings begin as open-ended contract positions with strong potential for direct hire.
Position Overview
The Avionics Technician supports all avionics functions associated with the Twin Otter rebuild program, from initial tear-down through restoration, system integration, testing and final delivery preparation.
This role requires hands-on avionics experience, strong technical documentation skills and the ability to coordinate avionics work with leadership, technicians and external vendors throughout each aircraft project.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and perform avionics troubleshooting and installation activities
  • Perform and oversee Garmin system installations and integrations
  • Plan, coordinate and track avionics work throughout aircraft tear-down, restoration and rebuild phases
  • Review and interpret wiring diagrams
  • Review technical data, schematics and interface requirements
  • Perform aircraft wiring and termination work
  • Support avionics system testing and integration
  • Maintain accurate documentation for avionics work
  • Complete required log entries and compliance records
  • Coordinate with leadership, technicians and external vendors to maintain project schedules
  • Support aircraft inspections
  • Perform system checks as required
  • Support final aircraft delivery preparation

Qualifications
  • Extensive avionics experience with a focus on troubleshooting and installation
  • Strong Garmin avionics experience
  • Experience with G-series equipment, navigators, flight decks, interfaces or equivalent systems
  • Hands-on experience with aircraft wiring and terminations
  • Experience with avionics system testing and integration
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and STC documentation
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a small, collaborative aviation team

Preferred Experience
  • Previous lead or leadership experience in an avionics environment
  • Twin Otter avionics experience
  • Experience supporting aircraft restoration or complete rebuild programs
