Location: - Long Beach, CA 90808

Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of avionics software for military aircraft programs. The engineer will contribute to both legacy avionics software and new feature development, working within Flight Management and Mission Computer systems.
The ideal candidate should have strong experience developing embedded real-time avionics software, preferably supporting Operational Flight Programs (OFPs), Flight Management Systems (FMS), or Mission Computers in a DO-178 environment.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, modify, and maintain embedded avionics software.
  • Support both legacy software maintenance and new avionics feature development.
  • Develop software for Flight Management Systems (FMS), Mission Computers, and related avionics subsystems.
  • Implement and enhance Flight Planning, Navigation, Guidance, and Vertical Profile functionality.
  • Analyze system requirements and translate them into software designs and implementations.
  • Perform software integration, debugging, verification, and validation activities.
  • Support hardware/software integration labs and flight simulation environments.
  • Collaborate with systems engineers, test engineers, and program stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Participate in Agile/Scrum development activities.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of embedded software development experience.
  • Strong programming experience in C/C++ (Ada experience is highly desirable).
  • Experience developing real-time embedded software.
  • Experience with Operational Flight Programs (OFP).
  • Hands-on experience with Flight Management Systems (FMS).
  • Experience supporting Mission Computer software.
  • Knowledge of avionics communication standards such as ARINC and/or MIL-STD-1553.
  • Experience with Linux/UNIX or RTOS environments (e.g., VxWorks, Integrity).
  • Experience with software integration and testing.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong experience in Flight Planning.
  • Experience implementing or supporting Vertical Profile / VNAV functionality.
  • Experience on C-17 aircraft programs.
  • Experience with DO-178B/DO-178C software development.
  • Experience supporting avionics simulation or hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments.
