Job description

The Software Engineer position contributes to the development of a large scale Command & Control system needed for processing the SLS/Orion spacecraft as well as interfacing with the avionics stack onboard the launch/crew vehicles themselves. Job duties include design, development, integration, testing, and documentation of software components for customized Software Applications.

• Follows documented OSI build and test procedures.
• Troubleshoots and identifies script errors.
• Maintains/creates scripts to support OSI build process.
• Utilizes CMMI compliant processes to develop, modify and maintain software source code and applications.
• Monitors the operation of assigned applications and responds to problems by diagnosing and correcting errors in logic and coding.
• Reviews user requirements and needs for new software and performs analysis, design, implementation, installation and documentation related to new software developed and/or acquired.
• Assist with real-time troubleshooting, anomaly resolution, and system recovery as necessary.
• Attend meetings and possibly make presentation on matters pertaining to supported applications.
• Perform other duties as assigned. 

 Qualifications Requires ten (10) years of relevant and progressive experience. Desirable BS degree in computer or system science, information technology, engineering or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Required recent experience with large-scale real-time systems.
• Required Linux scripting experience and in-depth experience with the Linux operating system.
• Experience with IBM AIX operating system, system administration, and networking is desirable.
• Application experience: Clonezilla and HP Openview are desirable.
• Experience must be within the last 10 years.
• Ability to analyze information and problem solving
• Experience with Software Development Fundamentals and Software Development Processes
