Job description

STS Technical Services is hiring an Aerospace Repair Station QA Manager in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, to lead quality assurance and regulatory compliance activities within an FAA Part 145 aviation component repair environment.

This full-time, on-site position is designed for an experienced aviation quality professional who is ready to take on broader leadership responsibility while remaining directly involved in audits, inspections, documentation, regulatory compliance and communication with customers and the FAA.

Direct aviation quality assurance or quality control experience is required. Candidates without professional aviation experience will not be considered.

Position Overview

The Aerospace Repair Station QA Manager oversees the daily activities of the Repair Station Quality Assurance Department while maintaining the organizational authority required to resolve quality-related matters.

This is a hands-on, working-manager position well suited for an experienced FAA Part 145 Quality Inspector, Quality Lead or Assistant Quality Manager who is ready to advance into departmental leadership.

The role is responsible for supporting the continued effectiveness of the Quality Control System and ensuring compliance with applicable FAA regulations, customer requirements and manufacturer recommendations.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the daily activities of the Repair Station Quality Assurance Department
  • Maintain the organizational authority necessary to resolve quality-related matters
  • Ensure compliance with applicable FAA regulations, customer requirements and manufacturer recommendations
  • Establish, implement, maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System
  • Maintain repair station quality procedures, manuals, specifications and supporting documentation
  • Serve as a quality liaison with the FAA, customers, technicians and company leadership
  • Coordinate and support FAA, customer, internal and repair station audits
  • Report quality system performance, compliance concerns and improvement opportunities to leadership
  • Review customer orders and technical documentation for applicable quality requirements
  • Prepare and review job-specific quality plans
  • Chair the Material Review Board for repair operations
  • Maintain and control technical data associated with aviation components being repaired or overhauled
  • Monitor technical documentation for incoming Required Inspection Items
  • Oversee the proper completion and execution of maintenance releases for components returned to service
  • Ensure limited shelf-life materials are properly identified, segregated, controlled and disposed of
  • Ensure scrapped aviation parts are properly identified, documented, segregated and disposed of according to established procedures
  • Promote awareness of customer, safety and regulatory requirements throughout the organization
  • Support the continued operation and effectiveness of the Quality Control System
  • Perform delegated Repair Station Manager responsibilities when required
Required Qualifications
  • Direct aviation quality assurance or quality control experience
  • Professional aviation-industry experience
  • Experience as a senior aviation inspector, quality lead, assistant quality manager, supervisor or quality manager
  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations governing aviation component maintenance, repair, overhaul, inspection and return-to-service activities
  • Experience with maintenance releases and Required Inspection Items
  • Experience working with aviation technical data and repair station documentation
  • Experience supporting audits, corrective actions, quality procedures and regulatory compliance
  • Ability to interpret FAA regulations
  • Ability to interpret manufacturer technical data and customer specifications
  • Ability to interpret repair station manuals
  • Understanding of document control
  • Understanding of shelf-life material control
  • Understanding of aviation parts segregation and scrap procedures
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Strong commitment to aviation safety and regulatory compliance
Preferred Qualifications
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate
