Job summary

The Fuel Facility Supervisor is responsible for supervising, directing, training, and assisting fuel facility personnel. This position oversees the safe receipt, storage, quality control, and distribution of the fuel facility and hydrant system. 

The Fuel Facility Supervisor ensures that operations are conducted in accordance with applicable requirements, including ATA Specification 103, ASTM and NFPA standards, the Swissport Ground Operations Procedures and Policy Manual (GPPM), site-specific procedures, and management directives

The expected pay rate is $26.75 - $27.82/hour. Full-time employees are offered a range of health and wellness benefits as well as 401(k) with company match paid vacation time, sick time, and company paid holidays. 

Your activities

  • Supervise, direct, train, and assist fuel facility personnel during assigned shifts.
  • Enforce work assignments from management, monitor employee performances, and ensure assisted duties are completed safely and accurately. 
  • Train and evaluate new employees as directed by management
  • Receive petroleum products into fuel storage facilities in accordance with ATA Specification 103 procedures and established quality-control requirements. 
  • Supervise tanker-truck deliveries and verify delivery documentation, product identification, quantity, and fuel quality.
  • Maintain accurate fuel inventory records and assist with inventory reconciliation. 
  • Perfom and document required fuel quality-control tests in accordance with application ATA, ASTM, Swissport, and site-specific standards. 
  • Conduct periodic and scheduled inspections of the fuel facility, hydrant system, loading racks, storage tanks, piping, valves, pumps, filters, and related equipment. 
  • Ensure the operation integrity of the fuel facility and hydrant system. 
  • Identify, document, report, and assist in correcting equipment deficiencies and operational discrepancies. 
  • Perfom routine maintenance and assist qualified maintenance personnel with repairs necessary to prevent equipment failures and operational interruptions. 
  • Assist with equipment inspections, testing and calibration. 
  • Work safely on loading g racks, fuel storage equipment, hydrant-system components, and elevated work areas. 
  • Complete and maintain paper and digital inspection forms, quality-control records, inventory documents, maintenance records, shifts reports, and other requested paperwork as directed by management. 
  • Respond to fuel spills, leaks equipment failures, alarms, and other emergency conditions in accordance with emergency-response procedures. 
  • Assist with fuel-spill containment and cleanup. 
  • Maintain clean, orderly, and safe work areas. 
  • Enforce applicable safety, security, environmental, operational, and quality-control requirements. 
  • Communicate operations conditions, discrepancies, incidents, and shift activities to employees and management. 
  • Follow all Swissport policies and procedures and perform other duties as assigned by management. 

Your profile

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain driving privileges required for the position.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous fuel-facility, aviation-fueling, petroleum-storage, industrial, or related supervisory experience.
  • Complete working knowledge of the fuel facility and hydrant system, or the ability to demonstrate the required knowledge following training. 
  • Knowledge of aviation-fuel quality control, fuel-receipt procedures, equipment inspection, and applicable safety requirements. 
  • Ability to supervise employees, provide training, enforce procedures and work assignments form management, and respond appropriately to operational problems. 
  • Clear verbal and written communications skills in English. 
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow technical procedures, safety requirements, operating manuals, inspection forms, and written instructions. 
  • Ability to complete records, reports, calculations, and other required documentation accurately. 
  • Ability to pass the Tank Farm Operator mathematical-skills assessment and any job-related color-vision assessment required for safely performing the essential functions of the position. 
  • Ability to hear and distinguish alarms, radio communications, verbal warnings, approaching vehicles or equipment, and other safety-related sounds, with or without hearing aids or other reasonable accommodation. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively by radio, telephone, and in person, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders, work at elevations, access fuel-system equipment, and perform the physical duties required by the position. 
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, reach, push, pull, and lift or move equipment and materials as required. 
  • Ability to respond to and work safely during emergency conditions. 
  • Ability to work around moving vehicles, operating machinery, petroleum products, fumes, noise, and other conditions associated with an active aviation-fuel facility.
  • Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, wind, and other weather conditions. 
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and emergency call-ins as operationally required.
