Aviation Cleaner information

What does an aviation cleaner do?

An aviation cleaner is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the interior and sometimes the exterior of aircraft. This includes tasks such as vacuuming cabins, wiping down tray tables, disinfecting lavatories, restocking supplies, and ensuring that the aircraft is neat and safe for passengers and crew. Aviation cleaners also follow strict safety and security protocols due to the sensitive environment of airports and airplanes. Their work helps maintain hygiene standards and contributes to the overall passenger experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an aviation cleaner, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Aviation Cleaner, you need attention to detail, knowledge of cleaning protocols, and typically a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, specialized aviation cleaning equipment, and safety procedures such as OSHA regulations is important. Reliability, teamwork, and time management are standout soft skills in this role. These skills ensure aircraft are cleaned efficiently, safely, and to the high standards required for passenger safety and airline operations.

Some positions may offer additional benefits or overtime pay, but overall, the pay is generally considered modest compared to other aviation or maintenance roles.

How do you become an aviation cleaner?

To become an aviation cleaner, candidates typically need a high school diploma or equivalent and should have attention to detail and the ability to work in confined spaces. On-the-job training is common, and familiarity with cleaning tools and safety procedures is important; some employers may require background checks or certifications related to safety standards.

How much do aircraft cleaners get paid?

Aircraft cleaners typically earn between $10 and $20 per hour, with annual salaries ranging from approximately $20,000 to $40,000 depending on experience, location, and employer. Some positions may offer additional benefits or overtime pay, especially in busy airports or airlines.
