Job description

RAM Aviation, Space & Defense is a leader in aerospace innovation, powering flight and space exploration with precision solenoids, valves, and actuators. Since 1975, we've supported missions like the Space Shuttle and continue to deliver mission-critical components for commercial, defense, and satellite systems. As one of Southern Utah's largest employers, we drive economic growth and offer high-skilled careers in engineering and manufacturing. From our advanced facility in St. George, we build the future of aerospace-on time, with excellence, and as a team. Join us to work on groundbreaking technology and help shape the future of flight and space exploration. Your career takes off here!
As an Assembly Technician, every component you assemble at RAM plays a role in something bigger-from keeping aircraft flying safely to supporting national defense and space exploration. You'll be part of a mission-driven team that values precision, reliability, and continuous improvement. You'll work with your hands, your head, and knowing that what you build matters. Whether you're just starting out or looking to grow in a high-tech manufacturing industry, this role offers a strong foundation and a clear path forward.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Precision Assembly: Assemble, position, align, and fasten units to assemblies, subassemblies, or frames using a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Fitting & Modification: File, lap, and buff parts to ensure a perfect fit between mating components. You will position, align, and adjust parts to ensure smooth mechanical operation.
  • Blueprint Reading: Read and interpret technical blueprints, schematics, and engineering specifications to determine the correct component parts and assembly sequences for complex electromechanical units.
  • Measurement & Inspection: Measure parts to determine exact tolerances using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and verniers. You will inspect, test, and adjust completed units to ensure they meet strict customer order requirements.
  • Finishing Touches: Clean and lubricate parts and subassemblies using appropriate materials (grease paddles, oilcans). You will also attach nameplates and accurately mark identifying information on parts for traceability.
  • Teardown & Prep: Carefully disassemble units to replace defective parts or to safely crate them for shipping.

Pay: $18.50 per hour. After 90 days it goes to $19.00 per hour. You'll also be a part of our annual all employee bonus. Lots of career advancement opportunities!
Schedule: Monday- Friday 6am-3:30pm, with every other Friday off
Requirements
  • Legal: Must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check and drug screening.

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Comfortable working with your hands, utilizing hand/power tools, and performing mechanical assembly tasks. Prior manufacturing or assembly experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right candidate!
  • Technical Skills: Ability to learn or currently possess the ability to read technical blueprints and use precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers). Basic math skills are required to verify tolerances.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of focus and a commitment to quality. You must care about doing the job right the first time.
  • Physical Demands: Must be able to stand, sit, and use hands/fingers for extended periods. Must be able to lift and carry moderately heavy parts or toolboxes as needed.
