Additional Information About the Role

BJC HealthCare System is seeking a Full-Time CT Clinical Instructor Advanced Modality Technologist  for Barnes Jewish Hospital (St. Louis, MO) - Plaza West Tower (South CT Department)  

 

Position Details:

  • Day Shift: Mon-Fri (6:30am-3pm)
  • CT Certified
  • Passionate about CT & enjoys teaching!!!
  • Paid Saturday & Holiday Rotation: average 3 Saturday shifts a year, holiday rotation
  • Train & onboard new technologists to ensure supportive and seamless transition into BJH CT department
  • Collaborate student schedules and ensure preceptors are set up appropriately
  • Perform  CT exams as a scanning technologists & precepting students and staff
  • Assist CT Clinical Instructor, CT Clinical Applications Specialist, & update training material as needed
  • No Call!!!
  • Advanced Modality Cat Scan

Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree or Trade School equivalency (or higher level of education)
  • Certification as a Registered Technologist in Radiography - R.T.(R) and/or CT
  • 2 – 5 years CT experience

The Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Barnes-Jewish Hospital pioneered many radiological milestones including work on 3-D treatment planning for cancer, and became the first in Missouri to combine PET and CT scanning. You will be working with an organization on the leading edge of diagnostic radiology. In fact, our radiology department is regarded as one of the top five in the United States, and performs over 453,000 diagnostic imaging examinations annually.


Preferred Qualifications

Role Purpose

Performs diagnostic imaging procedures in at least one advanced imaging modality (defined as MRI, CT, IVR, Mammography, Bone Density, Cardiac Catherization, and Fluoroscopy) on adults and/or pediatric patients for the purpose of diagnosis and/or treatment, and quality control. Advanced Modality Clinical Instructor provides direct orientation, supervision, and evaluation of clinical students and/or new employee training. Provides education and follows all clinical rules deemed necessary by the affiliated hospital. Maintains all necessary student records and serves as the primary instructor for students. Promotes hands-on learning and encourages professional development beyond the classroom. Oversight of the Senior Advanced Modality role/responsibilities. Performs all responsibilities under the direction of leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient and equipment for procedures.
  • Performs studies independently, in on-call situations, portable exams, and other site as required by work area.
  • Establishes and documents work standards for management and introduction of complex protocols used for diagnostic and therapeutic clinical applications.
  • Communicates with program directors of affiliated institutions and protocols established by the institutions with approval from BJC leadership. Attends all necessary clinical affiliated meetings.
  • Responsible for training students and/or new hires by performing the following tasks: step-by-step instructions, orientating to the department, ensures the students/new hires follow all appropriate safety and hospital regulations, serves as a guide for clinical students/new hires, and completes evaluates as deemed necessary by the affiliated institution and/or department. Organizes and maintains continuing medical education requirements for all staff technologists and coordinates the education of staff on all current and new procedures.
  • BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
