First Physicians Group is seeking an anesthesiologist to join their team at Sarasota Memorial Health Care System (SMHCS). We are the employed physician group of Sarasota Memorial Hospital, and we acquired the Anesthesiology practice in April 2023. Highlights of the Opportunity: 

  • We are looking for one General Anesthesiologist who are Fellowship-Trained in Pediatrics & Acute Pain.
  • A full-time anesthesiologist is expected to cover 210 shifts annually, with additional pay for extra shifts.
  • Diverse mix of cases including Cardiac, Endo, General Surgery, Neuro, OB, Oncology, Ortho, Robotics, Spine, Vascular, and Level II Trauma.
  • Staffing model planned is 40+ Anesthesiologists, and 100+ CRNAs covering 65+ sites including Cath Lab, IR, Endo, ECT. 
  • Average anesthesia volume is 55,000 cases annually.
  • Physicians will have oversight of CRNAs. Ratio of Physicians to CRNAs is 1:4.

  • Top of market compensation package based on years of experience.
  • W2 position with a Health Care System that has an unparalleled history of quality care delivery.
  • Commencement Bonus and Relocation assistance will be offered. 
  • Premium pay calculation if clinician works past scheduled shift. Premium calculation also applies if clinician opts to pick-up extra shifts. 
  • Full array of benefits offered including health, dental, vision, Long-term/short-term disability, 9 weeks PTO, 5 days for CME and 403(b). 
  • Sarasota Memorial and First Physicians Group are not-for-profit organizations 501(c)(3). Physicians can participate in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program if employed by First Physicians Group.
  • As an employee of a public, State of Florida organization, physicians are entitled to sovereign immunity. No tail coverage is needed should you leave the practice.
  • No State Tax in Florida. 

Required Qualifications:

  • MD or DO degree.
  • Eligible for a Florida medical license and ACLS certification.
  • BE/BC
  • Fellowship trained preferred.
