Job description

Projects Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer. Projects Inc. is a manufacturer of complex small machined components in the Aerospace and Power Systems industries and has been in business for over fifty years. The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for driving significant improvement in operational processes to improve productivity, quality, and safety in the manufacturing and supply chain areas of the business through the deployment of problem solving and lean methodologies.
Responsibilities will include:
  • Develop, evaluate, improve, and document manufacturing processes to meet our quality, cost and cycle-time and safety needs (including process control techniques)
  • Conduct workflow analysis and make recommendations for improvement in part flow and shop layout.
  • Plan, define and execute manufacturing cost reduction and product improvement programs for new and existing products.
  • Sustain current production by providing support for quality, production equipment trouble shooting and part documentation by determining the root cause, implementing corrective actions and documenting changes.
  • Provide technical assistance and conduct training for operations personnel.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess the following education and competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and interpretation
  • Education BS/BA with 0-3 years of hands-on related, or equivalent experience
  • experience with a track record for designing and implementing process improvements within the manufacturing or supply chain processes
  • Computer proficient to organize and analyze data and to prepare technical presentations (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks, or other 3D modeling software
  • Proficient in basic machining techniques; turning, milling, grinding, deburring etc.
  • Knowledge of welding, laser cutting, and EDM a plus
  • Process capability and new part development
  • Proficient in basic metrology (Calipers, height stand & indicator, shadowgraphs)
  • Self-directed worker, able to work with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of quality requirements for Pratt & Whitney such as UPPAP is a plus
  • Epicor ERP system is a plus
