They must manage diverse teams, including installers, engineers, and vendors, while keeping projects within budget and on schedule. Clear communication and proactive problem-solving are essential, as unexpected obstacles like last-minute client requests or integration issues with existing systems frequently arise.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an AV project manager, and why are they important?

Exceptional organizational skills, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities are crucial soft skills for coordinating teams and managing client expectations. These skills ensure successful project delivery, client satisfaction, and seamless AV system integration.

What is an AV project manager?

AV Project Managers are professionals who oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of audio-visual (AV) projects, such as installing conference room systems, event AV setups, or building-wide AV integrations. They serve as the main point of contact between clients, vendors, and installation teams, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to specified requirements. Their responsibilities often include project scheduling, resource allocation, troubleshooting, and quality assurance. AV Project Managers need strong technical knowledge of AV systems as well as excellent organizational and communication skills.

Job description

Operations Assistant — Code 8 AV

Location: Grapevine / Justin, TX area (Hybrid — office & job sites)

Schedule: 4-Day Work Week | Monday–Thursday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM | Fridays OFF

Compensation: Commensurate with experience

Vehicle: Company work vehicle provided

About Us

Code 8 AV is a low voltage integration company serving commercial and residential clients across DFW. We handle audio/video systems, smart home automation, networking, and security integration. We're directly partnered with Harper Electric but operate as our own company — and we're growing fast, with real room to grow into a lead operations and project management role as the company scales.

The Role

We're looking for an Operations Assistant to help run the business side of projects while also being comfortable on job sites when needed. This is a true hybrid role — some days you're at a desk managing logistics, other days you're on-site helping oversee an install or lending a hand to get a job across the finish line.

What you'll do:

  • Order and track product for upcoming and active jobs
  • Organize and manage invoicing
  • Plan out labor schedules and oversee project timelines
  • Manage installers and subcontractors on job sites, ensuring work stays on schedule and to standard
  • Head to job sites as needed to help oversee installs and support the crew in completing jobs
  • Help bring structure and organization to a growing operation

Who We're Looking For

We care more about attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn than a specific resume. If you have some background in tech, installation, or hands-on project work, and you're organized, dependable, and want to grow with a company early, we want to hear from you.

  • Comfortable with both office/admin work and hands-on job site work
  • Tech-comfortable — willing to learn low voltage systems, AV, networking, and smart home installs
  • Organized and able to juggle ordering, invoicing, and scheduling
  • Reliable transportation to job sites; valid driver's license (company vehicle provided for work use)
  • No specific license or certification required — we'll train the right person

Why Join Us?

You'd be joining a company that's growing quickly, with real opportunity to grow into a bigger role as we scale — but more than anything, we want someone who's excited to help build something and grow alongside it.
