Job description

Used Car Acquisition Manager

Parks Motor Group of Gainesville, FL

We are looking for a high-energy Used Car Acquisition Manager to help grow used vehicle inventory across multiple dealership rooftops. This role is for someone who knows the car business, understands market-based buying, and can hunt for inventory every single day. The inventory we are looking to acquire will be off of the service drives, Facebook Market Place, KBB ICO, and other "off the street" purchases. Vehicle acquisition will not be from auctions, wholesalers, or anywhere that requires a buy/sell fee or membership to join. The right person will be aggressive, organized, competitive, and able to source quality used vehicles from multiple channels while protecting gross and turn.

What You’ll Do

You will be responsible for finding, buying, and helping manage used vehicle inventory for multiple dealership locations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Source used vehicles through private party purchases, service lane, lease returns, equity mining, online marketplaces, and customer outreach.
  • Work with sales managers, GSM, GM, and the Used Car Director across multiple rooftops to identify inventory needs.
  • Monitor market values, MMR, retail pricing, aging inventory, turn rates, and wholesale opportunities.
  • Contact customers with equity, expiring leases, paid-off vehicles, service customers, orphan owners, and previous buyers.
  • Appraise vehicles accurately and quickly using current market data.
  • Negotiate purchases directly with consumers.
  • Track acquisition performance, cost-to-market, days-to-line, days-to-sale, and gross trends.
  • Travel between rooftops as needed.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate has:

  • Prior experience in used car management, acquisitions, buying, appraisal, wholesale, BDC, sales management, or automotive retail.
  • Strong understanding of used vehicle values, market trends, and dealership inventory needs.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with customers, managers, vendors, and ownership.
  • Strong follow-up habits. This job is won in the follow-up.
  • Comfort using tools such as vAuto, Manheim, ACV, CarGurus, AutoTrader, Kelley Blue Book, CRM systems, DMS systems, and online marketplace platforms.
  • Ability to work independently without needing to be babysat.
  • A clean, professional appearance and strong work ethic.
  • Valid driver’s license.
