Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Autonomous Systems Engineer to join our team. The Autonomous Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting, optimizing, and advancing autonomous haulage and mobile equipment systems within active mining operations. This role works cross-functionally with Operations, Maintenance, IT, and OEM partners to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient performance of autonomous technologies. The ideal candidate combines strong engineering fundamentals with hands-on field experience and a passion for emerging mining technologies.

Responsibilities:
  • Support deployment, commissioning, and continuous improvement of autonomous haulage and mobile equipment systems
  • Monitor system performance, identify gaps, and implement optimization strategies to improve productivity and reliability
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, and integration issues in collaboration with OEMs and site teams
  • Analyze operational data to drive performance improvements and enhance system utilization
  • Support change management and operational readiness initiatives related to autonomous systems
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and training materials
  • Provide technical guidance and training to operations and maintenance teams
  • Participate in incident investigations related to autonomous systems and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
  • Support long-term automation strategy and technology roadmap initiatives

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field required
  • 3-7+ years of experience in mining operations, mobile equipment systems, industrial automation, or related field preferred
  • Experience with autonomous haulage systems (AHS) or fleet management systems strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of control systems, networking, GPS, LiDAR, radar, and industrial communication protocols preferred
  • Experience with data analysis tools and performance monitoring systems preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and operational excellence required
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, field-based mining environment required
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills required
  • Experience supporting autonomous systems from OEMs such as Caterpillar Inc., Komatsu Ltd., or Epiroc AB preferred
  • Familiarity with fleet management platforms such as Cat MineStar or Komatsu FrontRunner preferred
  • Experience working in surface or underground mining environments preferred
  • Project management or system implementation experience preferred
  • Site-based position within an active mining operation preferred
  • Ability to work rotating shifts or flexible schedules as required
  • Ability to occasionally travel to other sites or OEM facilities required
