Bastian Automation, a division of Toyota Automated Logistics, is seeking an AV Support Specialist for their Georgetown, KY location.
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Support Specialist to join our growing automation team. This role is responsible for supporting Autonomous Vehicle (AV) systems throughout their lifecycle. The ideal candidate will possess strong troubleshooting skills and have a general working knowledge of software, networking, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems. This position requires frequent collaboration with customers, engineering teams, field service personnel, and project managers to ensure successful operation, and continuous improvement of AV systems.
Job Functions:
  • Provide remote and on-site technical support for AV systems and related automation technologies.
  • Troubleshoot vehicle navigation, mapping, localization, and traffic management issues.
  • Diagnose and resolve software, hardware, networking, safety scanner, electro-mechanical, and system integration problems.
  • Analyze system logs, diagnostics, and performance data to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot fleet management software, vehicle parameters, and system settings.
  • Support PLC interfaces, I/O communications, and third-party equipment integrations.
  • Troubleshoot industrial wireless networks, access points, radio systems, and communication infrastructure.
  • Assist customers with operational improvements, system optimization, and performance enhancements.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to engineering teams while providing detailed analysis and supporting documentation.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, training materials, and knowledge base articles.
  • Participate in after-hours support and on-call rotations as required.
  • Travel to customer sites for troubleshooting, commissioning, training, and support activities.
  • Accurately document all customer issues, troubleshooting activities, corrective actions, and resolutions within the Zendesk ticketing system to ensure complete and timely case management.
  • Conduct customer and internal training classes covering general AV system operation, navigation, software, troubleshooting, and safety systems.
  • Develop training materials, presentations, user guides, and operational documentation.
  • Lead hands-on training sessions during system startups, commissioning activities, and customer acceptance testing.
  • Provide ongoing technical coaching and support to customers, technicians, and internal team members.

Travel Requirements:
  • 50% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Bastian Automation)
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and passport

Required Qualifications and Preferred Skills:
  • Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.
  • Minimum of 3 years' work experience in a related field of either Robotics, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, Information Technology, or General Skilled Maintenance.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong customer service mindset and professional demeanor.
  • Comfortable working independently, autonomously, and within a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, including occasional international travel, to support customer sites, system deployments, commissioning activities, training programs, and ongoing technical support initiatives.
