Job Title
Testing Operations Supervisor - Automotive Vehicle Testing
Overview / Summary
We are seeking a Testing Operations Supervisor to co-lead a 200+ member workforce supporting vehicle durability testing, mileage accumulation, vehicle dynamics, emissions build, brake testing, safety impact, stockroom, and performance testing operations. The ideal candidate will have supervisory experience and a strong understanding of automotive testing, development, and certification processes. This role requires strong leadership, communication, teamwork, and operational management skills in a fast-paced testing environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Co-lead a workforce of test drivers, stockkeepers, and mechanics in a 24/7 multi-shift operation
  • Maintain current safety protocols and implement continuous safety improvements
  • Ensure test vehicles are operated according to testing schedules and compliance requirements
  • Ensure drivers and mechanics properly document vehicle issues and potential customer concerns
  • Ensure test vehicles are properly maintained and work orders are completed in a timely manner to minimize downtime
  • Lead ongoing process improvements and promote best practices to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale
  • Ensure drivers are properly trained to perform durability testing activities
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with drivers, mechanics, union representatives, and cross-functional management teams
  • Support additional operational requirements, including holidays and weekends when needed

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year of related experience
  • Previous supervision or leadership experience
  • Experience working in a union environment
  • Familiarity with vehicle testing and proving ground operations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work additional hours, including holidays and weekends as needed

Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in business, management, engineering, or automotive-related field
  • Automotive vehicle repair knowledge
  • Strong leadership skills with focus on employee coaching and development
  • Experience using data analysis to support decision-making
