Position Description: Purpose
Using a wide degree of creativity and latitude and in conjunction with clients and stakeholders, the Manager, Operations - AZ leads all aspects of the ongoing operations of TRC AZ, LLC proving ground facilities.
Essential Functions*
• Lead a diverse group of associates both internal and external to the organization in operating state of the art automotive testing facilities
• Ultimate accountability for all testing, scheduling, and safety at the facility
• Coordinates resource allocation for operations and maintenance
• Collaborate with clients, partners, suppliers, other employees, and stakeholders to ensure the success of the operation
• Hire, manage, train and motivate TRC AZ employees
• Promote effective communication
• Support Quality and EH&S (Environmental, Health, and Safety) efforts
• Coordinates with and manages outside vendors and subcontractors
• Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets
• Review and approve test proposals, purchases, plans and reports
• Collaborate with customers, partners, suppliers, other employees, and stakeholders to maintain a collective and healthy work environment.

Other Duties and Responsibilities (Non-Essential Functions)
Relationships
• Maintain positive productive relationships with supervisor and company leaders through proactive communication
• Coordinate and attend customer meetings for purposes of work planning, benchmarking, progress/performance review and resolution of issues
• Contribute to periodic resource discussions with staff and supervisor to clarify evolving assignments, ensure appropriate progress, clarify priorities, and to solicit assistance to overcome impediments
Facilities
• Contribute to the planning and development of facility in order to maximize the use of available space and optimize testing efficiency, while enabling an environment of confidentiality
• Assist in monitoring facility maintenance and equipment installation ensuring achievement of timing, costs and contract requirements
• Assist in identifying and estimating facility costs including equipment and materials, labor, operational contracts, maintenance, etc.
• Recommend equipment for purchase based on the ability to meet customer needs
Operations
• Maintain proving ground operations and staffing to provide:
PG Licensing – tracking training and licensing
PG Incident reporting, investigation and management
PG safety – reviewing test plans, ensuring compliance to facility operating guidelinesPG confidentiality – monitor physical and process confidentiality controls
PG scheduling – maintain schedule, coordination between customers
Facility downtime monitoring/management
Leadership
• Provide leadership to staff in providing automotive testing operations
• Ensure that efficiency and safety targets are established and met
• Establish and document policies, procedures, manuals and training material as needed
• Provide regular updates to supervisor on key performance metrics
• Develop thorough understanding of relevant corporate processes and IT systems
• Ensure operation and employment legal compliance set forth by federal, state, and local legislature
• Completion of customer support in a timely, error-free, and competitive manner
• Make independent and competent decisions
Qualifications
• High school diploma required
• Minimum 5 years of laboratory or test facility operations experience required
• General knowledge of automotive testing
• Demonstrated leadership, management, delegation and interpersonal skills
• Valid driver’s license

Working conditions
