We are currently seeking a Technical Project Manager, Automotive to be responsible for leading technical projects from the quoting stage through mass production, while coordinating cross-functional teams and serving as the primary technical contact for Tier 1 and OEM customers. This role drives technical development and coordinates project deliverables within the automotive phase-gate process. The position is also responsible for managing customer relationships, tracking project costs and manufacturing tooling expenses to ensure projects remain within established budgets, and ensuring quality requirements are met through adherence to APQP, PPAP, and FMEA standards.
This is a remote position. Candidates located in the Detroit, MI area will be considered.
Responsibilities:
  • Award new projects by providing comprehensive technical solution to the customer.
    • Review RFQ package with Cross-functional teams (CFT) to define achievable specification for quotation.
    • Work with Program Manger to review internal cost from a technical perspective.
    • Follow up open technical task and push for closure during RFQ stage.
  • Drive flawless launch of awarded projects.
    • Set up and manage internal/external project meetings to drive the open items resolved and closure.
    • Drive cost optimization with the CFT throughout the project phase.
    • Work with Program Manager to define technical timelines, and coordinate with the CFT to meet project timing/milestones.
    • Coordinate/Supervise all the documents submission to meet the phase gate requirement.
    • Identify technical risk and solve roadblocks.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Guide design, quality, and manufacturing engineering teams.
  • Change Management: Support engineering change request and customer design updates.
  • Ability to travel as needed to visit customers, production sites, and suppliers (10%).

Education/Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3 to 7 years of project management experience in the automotive supply chain.
  • Core Tools: Proficiency in APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, and DFMEA processes.
  • Certifications: PMP certification is a plus.
  • Industry Knowledge: Background in RF/coaxial connectors, wiring harnesses, high-speed data transmission is a plus.
  • Communication: Demonstrates strong communication skills.
  • Organization: Skilled at managing multiple tasks and tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrates strong Problem-Solving capability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with Project Management software.
