Job description

Brown Distributing Company is a leading beverage distributor throughout the state of Virginia. Since 1919, Brown Distributing has grown into a beverage distribution business with combined sales of over 3 million cases annually and serving in excess of 3,000 retailers with over 200 employees.

We are seeking a student Mechanic Intern to join our team and support the Diesel Mechanics in Richmond, VA!

Schedule:

Monday-Friday (flexible/will work with school schedule)

Compensation:

$18/hour

POSITION MISSION: A Mechanic Intern assists experienced technicians in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of vehicles or equipment. This role is ideal for students or entry-level candidates looking to gain practical experience in automotive or mechanical work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in performing routine maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations, brake checks)
  • Help diagnose mechanical issues using tools and diagnostic equipment
  • Support repairs on engines, transmissions, and other vehicle systems
  • Supports repairs on small fleet vehicles and trailers
  • Clean and organize tools, equipment, and work areas
  • Follow safety procedures and company guidelines at all times
  • Observe and learn from senior mechanics and technicians
  • Maintain basic service records and documentation

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a program in automotive technology or a related field
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems and tools
  • Willingness to learn and take direction
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment (standing, lifting, etc.)
  • Ability to read and understand technical and service manuals
  • Valid Virginia driver's license with no more than 7 points, no DUI convictions within past 5 years or pending DUI convictions
