Job description

Industrial Engineer - Automotive


Location: Fairfax, KS (Onsite)
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM (1st Shift)
Job Type: Contract (1 Year - Possible Extension)


We are seeking an Industrial Engineer to join a leading automotive manufacturing team in Fairfax, Kansas. This is an excellent opportunity for both recent engineering graduates and experienced professionals looking to launch or grow their careers in manufacturing. Candidates with an Industrial Engineering degree are highly preferred.


Responsibilities:

  • Support manufacturing operations through process improvement and production optimization.
  • Develop and maintain plant layouts using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar layout design software.
  • Analyze workflows, material flow, and facility layouts to improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with production, manufacturing, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams on continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with manufacturing process development, workstation design, and capacity planning.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve productivity.
  • Participate in problem-solving activities and implement process improvements.
  • Work effectively in a union manufacturing environment while building strong cross-functional relationships.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Industrial Engineering strongly preferred).
  • 0-8+ years of Industrial Engineering or manufacturing experience.
  • Recent graduates with relevant internship or co-op experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar layout design software.
  • Manufacturing internship or professional manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a union manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work across multiple departments.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industrial Engineering degree.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
  • Experience with facility layout, line balancing, or process optimization.
  • Experience supporting unionized manufacturing facilities.
