Role Description

Advantage Investigations is seeking an experienced Collision Analyst to join our growing team immediately. A Collision Analyst is a trained specialist who evaluates the evidence from a motor vehicle accident to determine whether the reported facts match the damage, scene evidence, and vehicle dynamics. Their work includes analyzing impact patterns, speed, direction of travel, impact angles, paint transfer, vehicle damage, EDR data, and other physical evidence to provide objective findings.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills and be able to prepare professional written reports and provide expert-level consultation to attorneys, insurance carriers, law enforcement and other clients. Courtroom testimony and litigation support experience are required.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct collision scene investigations
  • Conduct vehicle examinations
  • Analyze physical evidence, vehicle damage, roadway conditions, photographs, and electronic data
  • Download, collect, and interpret Event Data Recorder (EDR) data
  • Obtain and analyze Vehicle Sampling Evidence
  • Analyze and interpret evidence and data to render an expert opinion pertaining to damage and to confirm or dispute a claim.
  • Work independently and manage assignments from intake through final reporting
  • Maintain professional documentation and chain of custody standards
  • Present findings in the courtroom as an expert.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in collision scene investigation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to independently manage and complete assignments
  • Courtroom testimony experience
  • Trial preparation and litigation support experience
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • The candidate’s credential should include one or more of the following:
  • Operator of a repair shop
  • Hands-on experience with collision repair as a tech
  • Damage appraiser for a shop or carrier
  • Tech school education on vehicle repair with field experience
  • ICAR and or ASE certifications
  • Insurance carrier vehicle accident investigator or adjuster

Preferred Qualifications

  • Accident Reconstruction experience is a plus. The ability to utilize reconstruction methodologies to determine: vehicle speeds, impact angles, changes in velocity, collision dynamics, sequence of events.
  • Ability to operate specialized investigative and reconstruction equipment is a plus. Equipment includes: LIDAR scanners, Drones/UAS , Total stations, photogrammetry and mapping tools, and reconstruction software platforms.
  • Formal accident reconstruction training from a recognized institution such as:
  • Northwestern University Center for Public Safety
  • IPTM (Institute of Police Technology and Management)
  • Equivalent recognized reconstruction training programs
  • Membership in professional reconstruction associations
  • Event Data Recorder (EDR) collection and interpretation training and experience
  • ACTAR Certification (Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction)
  • Automotive repair technician or mechanical experience
