Essential Duties & Responsibilities Perform routine preventive maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and fluid checks. Learn to diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic system issues under supervision. Inspect equipment and vehicles to identify wear, damage, or potential safety concerns. Assist with disassembly, repair, and reassembly of engines, transmissions, braking systems, and other mechanical components. Use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment safely and effectively. Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records, work orders, and parts documentation. Clean and organize the shop, work areas, tools, and equipment to ensure a safe working environment. Respond to service calls and assist with field repairs when required. Develop proficiency in troubleshooting and repair techniques to progress toward journeyman-level competency. Assist with parts inventory management, including identifying needed parts and stocking supplies. Communicate effectively with supervisors, mechanics, and other team members regarding equipment status and repair needs. Participate in on-the-job training and classroom instruction as required by the apprenticeship program. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements. Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications Education Requirements: High school diploma or GED preferred. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics Heavey Equipment training or vocational certification preferred. Preferred Valid driver's license. Previous automotive repair experience preferred Necessary Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Monday – Friday + extra work on weekends with overtime. Supervisory Responsibilities This position will not have supervisory responsibilities. DOT Covered/Safety-Sensitive Role Requirements This position does perform DOT “safety-sensitive” functions (as defined under 49 CFR Part 40) and is subject to all federal requirements related to Department of Transportation requirements for those performing, or on-call to perform, “safety-sensitive” functions. Employees must provide a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC). Additional Qualifying Factors As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain and maintain the appropriate clearance levels required and must also be able to obtain access to military installations.
