HP Tuners LLC is a global leader in the automotive aftermarket, developing hardware and software for vehicle calibration. HP Tuners is seeking a Vehicle Engineer to join our team onsite in Buffalo Grove, IL.


The Vehicle Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, updating, and adding vehicle support and features to VCM Suite, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to conduct simulations and hands-on testing to improve software functionality and efficiency.


This position reports to the Associate Director of Vehicle Engineering.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and update in-house software to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
  • Reverse engineer various automotive binary files.
  • Map vehicle calibration parameters.
  • Apply automotive programming tools and software.
  • Modify, debug, and troubleshoot applications to peak efficiency and reliability.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure seamless software-hardware integration.
  • Support software validation and verification efforts, ensuring compliance with automotive safety standards.

Requirements

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND COMPETENCIES

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or electrical engineering.
  • Engine and transmission operation.
  • Automotive Programming Tools or Software.
  • Automotive communications protocols.
  • Familiar with Assembly languages (x86, PPC, Tri-core).
  • Familiar with programming languages: C#, C++, Python.
  • IDA Pro, Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously on projects.
  • Good problem-solving skills.

  • Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and work at a desk and computer for prolonged periods of time.

Compensation and Benefits


At HP Tuners LLC, we understand that compensation plays a key role when considering a new opportunity. The estimated base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000, with actual pay determined including factors such as location, skills, experience, and other relevant considerations. This position also qualifies for a discretionary bonus and a complete benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage, paid time off (PTO), and a 401(k) program with employer matching.
