Overview

This position exists to support a rapidly expanding Building Automation team by taking full ownership of high-visibility project lifecycles. The role directly impacts the financial health and operational success of the organization by ensuring that complex facility automation projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest engineering standards while maximizing profitability.

Summary

The Building Automation Project Manager is the primary commercial and operational leader for complex control system projects. A successful candidate in this role will blend a deep technical understanding of HVAC and building automation systems with strong financial acumen to lead engineering teams, manage project margins, mitigate risks, and drive exceptional customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities
  • Manage large-scale or multiple concurrent building automation projects from inception to final completion.

  • Drive project margin accountability and execute strategic steps to increase the overall financial health of each project.

  • Oversee comprehensive project financials, including cost projections, cash flow reporting, procurement, and monthly job invoicing.

  • Establish, monitor, and enforce project schedules to guarantee timely execution and resource alignment.

  • Forecast resource requirements accurately and present scope, schedule, and resource plans to regional leadership.

  • Serve as the primary commercial contact for customers, building strong relationships and negotiating terms and conditions.

  • Quantify, draft, and execute project change orders efficiently.

  • Identify potential project risks proactively and implement effective mitigation strategies.

  • Investigate root causes of deviations from the project plan or schedule and execute corrective actions.

  • Provide high-level technical guidance to engineering teams while enforcing the use of strict engineering standards.

  • Enforce quality plans throughout the project lifecycle and contribute to the company's Quality Management System (QMS).

Qualifications
  • 3 to 5 years of proven project leadership experience operating as a Project Manager or Technical Lead.

  • Strong industry experience in building automation, facility systems, or industrial controls integration.

  • Technical proficiency with major building automation and industrial control platforms (such as Rockwell, Schneider, AVEVA, or Inductive Automation).

  • Solid technical understanding of HVAC systems within large building automation systems, including sequences of operations, P&IDs, and instrumentation/control valves.

  • Demonstrated experience managing project financials, budgeting, resource forecasting, and drafting change orders.

  • Proven ability to organize, schedule, and confidently lead meetings with internal engineering teams and external customers.

  • Advanced software proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Microsoft Project.

  • Hands-on onsite commissioning experience is highly preferred.
