From concept through production, DuroByte delivers innovative products tailored to diverse industry needs. The company operates across multiple entities in Canada and the United States, supporting a diverse portfolio of engineering, automation, software, manufacturing, and industrial service operations.

DuroByte is seeking an experienced Automation Program Manager to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of custom industrial automation projects. This customer-facing position will coordinate multidisciplinary engineering and technical teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with customer requirements. The Automation Program Manager will oversee the complete project lifecycle, from sales handoff and design through build, integration, installation, commissioning, customer acceptance, and project closeout.

YOUR DAY TO DAY
  • Manage custom automation projects throughout the full project lifecycle, from sales handoff and project kickoff through design, procurement, build, integration, installation, commissioning, customer acceptance, and closeout.
  • Coordinate activities across mechanical and electrical design, controls, robotics, machine vision, software, procurement, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning teams.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate detailed project schedules, milestones, resource requirements, deliverables, and critical-path activities.
  • Monitor project budgets, review programme purchase requisitions, and ensure projects remain aligned with established financial and scheduling requirements.
  • Schedule and lead weekly project meetings, communicate priorities, document decisions, and follow up on action items.
  • Maintain consistent communication with customers, provide project updates, and support positive customer relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify work outside the original project scope and document engineering changes, including related cost and schedule impacts.
  • Coordinate customer approval for scope changes before additional work proceeds.
  • Maintain complete and accurate project documentation, including schedules, meeting minutes, action-item logs, change records, customer approvals, technical documentation, and closeout records.
  • Facilitate programme management meetings to review key performance indicators and the status of active projects.
  • Establish and promote programme management standards and best practices.
  • Set clear team objectives and encourage accountability, teamwork, and effective communication across all project stakeholders.
  • Provide on-site customer support as required.
What You Bring

  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects involving multidisciplinary and cross-functional technical teams.
  • Proven ability to manage projects within established budget and schedule requirements.
  • Experience participating in direct customer discussions and negotiations.
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation systems, including PLC controls, robotics, HMIs, machine vision, electrical controls, mechanical systems, tooling, safety systems, and equipment integration.
  • Knowledge of project management principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong technical and business aptitude, with well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and customer communication skills.
  • Ability to travel within Canada and the United States, with the potential for international travel.
  • A valid passport and driverโ€™s licence.
  • Ability to enter customer and manufacturing facilities, which may require background checks and drug testing.
  • Legal authorisation to work in Canada without employer sponsorship.
Who You Are
  • You take ownership and follow through.
  • You are comfortable balancing strategic priorities with day-to-day accounting responsibilities.
  • You thrive in a growing organization with multiple moving parts and changing priorities.
  • You are eager to learn, adaptable, and motivated by continuous improvement.
  • You enjoy building processes, creating structure, and making a meaningful impact on the business.
Whatโ€™s In It For You
