We are currently looking for an ERP Accounting & Automation Manager for our Houston, TX office.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The ERP Accounting & Automation Manager is responsible for leading the design, governance, and continuous improvement of accounting processes within the ERP environment. This role serves as a key partner across Accounting and other areas of the organization that interact with Boardwalk's ERP system to strengthen transaction accuracy, enhance automation, improve user experience, and maintain financial control. The ideal candidate combines strong accounting expertise with process improvement capability and a system-oriented mindset to drive scalable, efficient, and compliant finance operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the accounting lead for ERP transaction flow design and accounting treatment decisions.
  • Define and maintain accounting coding logic, defaulting strategies, and financial governance standards.
  • Establish scalable, rules-based approaches to systematically derive account coding where appropriate.
  • Ensure accounting consistency across Accounts Payable, Procurement, Expenses, Projects, Fixed Assets, and other ERP modules.

ERP Process Optimization
  • Analyze current-state finance processes and identify opportunities to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort.
  • Lead initiatives to improve ERP usability, automation, and transaction processing efficiency.
  • Partner with the Financial Systems team to implement configuration enhancements and improvements.
  • Drive simplification of approval workflows, data entry requirements, and exception handling processes.

Automation & Intelligent Derivation
  • Identify and implement opportunities to automate key accounting and finance processes, including the following:
    • General ledger account derivation
    • Project and task coding
    • Supplier defaults
    • Intercompany allocations
    • Accrual and allocation logic
  • Develop scalable business rules that improve accuracy while reducing dependency on end-user accounting expertise.
  • Collaborate on artificial intelligence, robotic process automation, and other intelligent automation opportunities within finance operations.

Governance & Controls
  • Ensure accounting processes comply with internal controls, audit requirements, and company policies.
  • Evaluate the impact of process and system changes on financial reporting integrity.
  • Support testing, validation, and process documentation for ERP enhancements and system upgrades.

Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Act as a strategic liaison between Accounting, Information Technology, and ERP support teams.
  • Lead workshops and process improvement sessions with key stakeholders.
  • Provide training and guidance to end users on optimized finance processes and system usage.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
  • At least 6 years of experience in accounting or ERP process management.
  • Strong understanding of ERP transaction flows and their accounting implications.
  • Demonstrated experience designing or improving accounting processes within ERP platforms.
  • Strong analytical, process improvement, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to translate accounting requirements into scalable operational solutions.

PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:
  • CPA or CMA certification.
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP or similar enterprise resource planning platforms.
  • Experience with workflow automation, reporting tools, or business process redesign initiatives.
  • Knowledge of Procure-to-Pay, Expense Management, Projects, and General Ledger integrations.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement experience.
