Job description

Job Overview:

The Systems Integration Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, automating, and supporting the Ohio Gastroenterology Groupโ€™s Microsoft infrastructure, identity platforms, and business system integrations. This role combines advanced systems administration with automation and integration engineering to improve operational efficiency, security, and user experience across enterprise applications. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in PowerShell, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Group Policy management, and technical documentation, while serving as a technical leader for strategic IT initiatives.

Key Responsibilities Core Responsibilities Infrastructure & Identity Management
  • Administer and maintain Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Group Policy, and related infrastructure services.
  • Design and implement identity, authentication, and access management solutions.
  • Manage user lifecycle provisioning, role-based access controls, and security groups.
  • Configure and maintain Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to enforce security and operational standards.
Systems Integration & Automation
  • Design and support integrations between business applications, cloud services, and enterprise systems.
  • Develop PowerShell scripts and automation solutions to streamline administrative processes.
  • Automate user onboarding/offboarding, reporting, compliance verification, and routine operational tasks.
  • Collaborate with application owners and vendors to implement interfaces and data exchange solutions.
  • Support and optimize Microsoft 365 and Azure-based services.
  • Manage hybrid identity environments by connecting on-premises and cloud platforms.
  • Assist with implementation of Intune, Conditional Access, MFA, and related modern management technologies.
Documentation & Process Management
  • Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, architecture diagrams, standards, policies, and operational procedures.
  • Develop knowledge base articles and support documentation for IT staff and end users.
  • Maintain disaster recovery and business continuity documentation.
Technical Leadership
  • Serve as an escalation resource for complex infrastructure and integration issues.
  • Lead technical projects involving automation, cloud migration, security improvements, and systems modernization.
  • Mentor other IT staff and promote best practices in scripting, documentation, and systems administration.
  • Ensure systems are compliant with relevant healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA) and industry standards.
  • Maintains current knowledge of system hardware, networks and software systems implemented; strives to assess near term opportunities for improvement and required migrations.
  • Remains current on advances in technology.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • 5+ years of experience in systems administration or infrastructure engineering.
  • Advanced PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
  • Strong experience with:
    • Active Directory
    • Microsoft Entra ID
    • Group Policy Management
    • Windows Server Administration
    • Microsoft 365 Administration
  • Experience integrating enterprise applications and services.
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong technical background with experience in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work.
  • Ability to explain technical problems and offer solutions to those without technological training.
  • Ability to work with other Managers and Directors on issues in a professional and productive manner.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives with little supervision.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel and using reports to solve problems.
  • Experience supporting healthcare applications and regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with SSO, SAML, OAuth, SCIM, and identity governance solutions.
Required Qualifications
  • At least five years of experience in healthcare IT.
  • Knowledge of healthcare industry regulations and compliance requirements, particularly HIPAA.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to sit (frequent), stand (frequent), walk (frequent), bend over (frequent) and type on keyboard (frequent)
  • Must be able to independently lift 25 lbs. (occasional)
  • Ability to communicate in person and by phone (frequent)
  • Clinical office environment with numerous employees
