Job description

We are hiring an Applied AI Intern to work within our People Operations and People Programs team. This role is focused on changing how work gets done. The People Operations team is moving away from manual processes, fragmented systems, and reactive support models. The goal is to automate where possible, redesign where needed, and build a more structured and scalable way of operating using AI, workflows, and system design. You will help identify where work is inefficient today and build solutions that replace it. This includes automating repetitive tasks, designing new support models, and creating systems that allow the team to operate with more speed and consistency. This is not a predefined internship. Problems will not always be clearly scoped, and part of the role is bringing structure to ambiguity and driving solutions forward. The work sits at the intersection of technical execution, operations, and how people actually get work done. This role is a minimum term of 12 months.

This role is onsite, based in our Toronto, ON office.

Who You Are

  • Build the infrastructure layer that connects our systems and supports how the team operates.
  • Design and implement automation across systems and workflows while translating operational needs into structured, buildable systems.
  • Develop internal HR products that improve employee experience and operational efficiency.
  • Help define and build a new support model that reduces manual work and replaces reactive processes to identify where work is fragmented.
  • Contribute to shaping how the team operates by introducing new ways of working enabled by AI and automation.

What We Need

  • Ability to design, build, and iterate on end-to-end workflows across multiple systems while building automation that reduces manual work and improves consistency.
  • Experience integrating tools using APIs, webhooks, or similar approaches.
  • Ability to translate operational problems into technical solutions and working prototypes.
  • Comfort working across multiple tools and selecting the right approach for the problem.
  • Strong execution mindset with the ability to quickly learn new systems and apply them effectively in practice.

What You Will Learn

  • How to apply AI and automation in a live operational environment supporting day-to-day People Operations.
  • How to design systems that replace manual, reactive workflows with scalable, structured solutions.
  • How to take ambiguous problems and turn them into clear, executable technical work.
  • How to build and deploy internal tools that improve how a non-technical team operates.
  • How AI can meaningfully change operational models in real-world business settings.

Compensation for all interns at Tenstorrent ranges from $38/hr - $43/hr including base and variable compensation targets. Experience, skills, education, background and location all impact the actual offer made.

Tenstorrent offers a highly competitive compensation package and benefits, and we are an equal opportunity employer.
