We have an exciting opportunity for an intermediate Automation & Controls Specialist to join our Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering team in Fredericton, Moncton, or Saint John, NB; Halifax, NS; or Charlottetown, PE. Bring your technical expertise and problem-solving skills to a collaborative team that thrives on delivering cutting-edge automation solutions across a wide range of industries.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Controls Development: Develop, program, and commission PLC, HMI, and SCADA applications for industrial control systems across multiple industries, including water & wastewater, power, and oil & gas;
  • Field Support: Provide on-site troubleshooting, commissioning, and startup support to ensure seamless integration and operation of control systems;
  • System Design: Assist with the selection of ICS/SCADA hardware and software to create efficient and secure control system architectures;
  • Industrial Networking: Develop and review control system network architectures using industry-standard communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profinet, OPC UA, etc.);
  • Refine Standards: Support the development and continuous improvement of company design standards, master specifications, and quality assurance processes; and
  • Teamwork: Work with multi-disciplinary teams, general contractors, and clients to deliver best-in-class automation solutions.


Your Capabilities and Credentials:

  • Minimum five (5) or more years of experience in automation and controls;
  • Registered with or eligibility for registration with the designated professional association of your province;
  • Experienced in PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming, including Allen Bradley, and Schneider Electric, Siemens, and Trihedral VTScada platforms;
  • Strong troubleshooting and commissioning experience, including I/O setup, VFD configuration (Allen Bradley, ABB), and control system integration;
  • Proficiency with industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, DF-1Profinet, OPC UA) and network setup (UHF radio, fiber optic, cellular);
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and experience in its application; and
  • Experience with cybersecurity or water & wastewater control systems would be considered an asset.
