Job description

Lead Controls / Automation Engineer (Integrator)

We are seeking a an Automation Engineer to design and program complex electrical systems while mentoring engineering team.

Responsibilities:

  • Designs systems of electrical and automated controls for machines and processes
  • Mentor & train junior-level engineers
  • Integrated control and information solutions using Allen-Bradley, & Rockwell Automation.
  • Programs PLC, HMI and SCADA based project requirements
  • Selects hardware and formulates engineering design based on project requirements
  • Reviews system design for compliance with engineering best practices, appropriate regulations and codes, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications
  • Formulates and performs factory acceptance test plans for completed systems
  • Performs site acceptance tests at client job sites
  • Provides PLC and HMI programming field support
  • Assists engineering manager with the below: programming and FAT scheduling
  • resolving engineering design and testing problems
  • perform design review of other engineers
  • Assists Sales Department in selecting components and estimating engineering scope on quotations
  • Provides project management assistance for control systems
  • Directs and coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems on field installations.
  • AutoCAD, ERP system (sage – business system)
  • Microsoft Office products to perform engineering and project management tasks

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in EE, Engineering, similar or equivalency years of experience
  • Minimum 7 years related experience in design, development, programming, and field commissioning experience.
  • Have direct engineering leadership experience, or have the desire to transition into a leadership role
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents including P&IDs, sequence of operations, technical specifications, etc.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Effectively present information to top management, customers, and employees
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
  • Apply mathematical operations to such tasks as determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, and factor analysis.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and color vision.
