Engineering, Automation, and Maintenance Department Leader
Location: Shelby Twp, MI
Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire

Position Overview:
This leadership role oversees the Engineering, Automation, and Maintenance departments to ensure all operations, projects, and personnel align with organizational goals and strategic priorities. The position requires a results-driven, hands-on leader who can coordinate technical teams, drive process improvements, and collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to achieve company objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all activities and personnel within Engineering, Automation, and Maintenance departments.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and performance.
  • Organize daily priorities, workload distribution, and department objectives.
  • Drive process development and ensure cross-training among team members.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for engineering, automation, and maintenance concerns from the production floor.
  • Plan and manage all aspects of new program launches related to engineering and technical support.
  • Monitor and manage labor utilization and department performance metrics.
  • Collaborate closely with other managers, suppliers, and contractors to support operational goals.
  • Develop detailed plans, procedures, and documentation to guide departmental activities.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Proficiency in Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Effective problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Proven experience leading technical teams in a high-volume manufacturing or automotive environment.
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in and around active production areas.
  • May be exposed to variable temperatures, noise, and moving equipment.
  • Requires multitasking and responsiveness to changing operational needs.
Work Environment:
  • Manufacturing environment with potential exposure to dust, fumes, and fluctuating temperatures.
  • Surfaces may be uneven or slippery due to production activity.
  • Occasional outdoor work may be required.
