What you'll do...

Position: Manager, Automation Engineering

Job Location: 811 Excellence Dr, Bentonville, AR 72716

Duties: Research, review, and provide feedback to engineers on proposed solutions for process flows, automations, and fulfillment warehouse designs. Provide engineering expertise and support to future state warehouse or system designs by assisting with the selection, use, and application of technology and automated processes within Walmart's eCommerce fulfillment network. Actively evaluate emerging technologies and industry 4.0 trends to identify best in class technologies for scalable robotics and automation implementations for the organization. Develop automation related technology roadmaps to implement emerging technologies in Walmart's fulfilment network. Plan and lead project teams to implement fulfillment designs and/or engineering and construction projects. Inspect facilities, technology, and equipment to ensure they meet Walmart's material handling, processing, and storage standards. Help report on metrics to track progress of implementations to leadership. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, both inside and outside of the organization, to develop, test, implement, and monitor new technology and/or facility improvements. Manage vendor requests for automation and robotics projects. Review and track vendor contracts for the project by partnering with internal teams (for example, vendor management) to select and renew vendor contracts. Provide vendor forecasts and track vendor performance. Communicate technical issues, resolutions, and outstanding concerns to management, operations, and maintenance teams. Review time, expenses, person-hours, energy, and other resources and provide analyses to management. Lead the identification, incubation, and acceleration efforts for robotics and related emerging technologies for the implementation of automation projects for Walmart's various distribution centers, fulfillment centers, and marketplace fulfillment centers. Review data analysis on fulfillment processes and requirements (for example, site or facility performance and efficiency metrics, capacity, and demand planning) and generate additional insights. Perform or help direct team to perform more complex process optimization analysis and share findings with other managers and team. Recommend facility and technology metrics based on insights. Provide advice to team and recommend innovative approaches to solve complex issues. This position does not supervise employees.

Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree or the equivalent in Engineering (any) or related field; OR Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Engineering (any) or related field and 2 years of experience in engineering, supply chain, or related area.

Skills required: Experience scripting and object-oriented coding languages (Python, C++). Experience with continuous improvement techniques to identify opportunities for greater efficiency. Experience implementing new technologies, processes, and digital transformation efforts. Experience with electrical and mechanical design concepts for automating or robotics applications. Experience working and testing with sensors, actuators, and controllers for automation/robotics applications. Experience creating and working with graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for automation or robotics applications to improve usability and functionality. Experience identifying and troubleshooting technical issues during testing or deployment of automation or robotics applications. Experience deploying, commissioning, and testing automation and robotics applications. Experience with Linux operating system, ethernet/IP protocols, and robot operating system (ROS) used to implement robotics applications. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.

Rate of pay: $90,000.00 - 180,000.00/year
