E-Space is bridging Earth and space to enable hyper-scaled deployments of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and services. As a Staff Automation Engineer, you will focus on the industrial automation of space products. This is a hands-on position, and you will engage with E-Space design engineers to procure, design, and deploy an automated production system.  
 
 This position is based in Arlington, TX.
What you'll be doing:
  • Conduct trade studies, establishes hardware requirements, design mechanical components, and initiate procurement of automated manufacturing process equipment
  • Manage characterization, qualification, and acceptance testing of in-house robotics automation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other subsystem engineers, providing DfX expertise to all product design teams
  • Support digital manufacturing initiatives by simulating production equipment digital twin's and IIoT device integrations
  • Design for automation, and manufacturability for industrialization of new products
What you bring to this role:
  • 5-10 years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience programming industrial robots and cobots
  • Robot end effector design and prototyping
  • Foundational understanding of controls and PLCs
  • You have demonstrated success working in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment
  • You're excited to adopt new manufacturing technologies, actively seeking the latest machine design trends, and can demonstrate a creative design process 
  • You can demonstrate a functional knowledge of vision systems, electronic sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and robotics 
Extra Bonus points for the following:
  • Bachelor’s/Master's/PhD of Science in Industrial, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • ML and machine vision
  • You’ve previously worked with polymer film materials, printed electronics, or complex conveyor systems 
  • You have a passion in origami 
Additional Requirements
This is a fast-paced, high-impact environment - flexibility to occasionally work extended hours or weekends during critical periods is expected.

This is a full time, exempt position, based out of our Arlington, TX facility. We are redefining how satellites are designed, manufactured and used—so we’re looking for candidates with passion, deep knowledge and direct experience on LEO satellite component development, design and in-orbit activities.
