Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and versatile Electrical Engineer/Technologist to join our corporate engineering team. This role is pivotal in supporting multiple manufacturing plants by enhancing production efficiency, upgrading legacy systems, and driving automation initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in electrical design, PLC programming, and project management, along with a proactive approach to troubleshooting and innovation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with different plants to overcome production problems and improve safety systems.
  • Works as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team to help develop and own the electrical equipment design that provides the functionality required based on internal standards and user requirement specifications.
  • Provide complete electrical assistance including troubleshooting, project engineering and project management to Plants.
  • Update existing legacy technologies to current standards when required.
  • Keep current with the latest technologies to provide relevant electrical design consolation.
  • Programming automation and control systems and improving existing PLC programs including servo drives and A/C drives to help manufacturing efficiency.
  • Electrical project management including scheduling, financial, and contractor management.
  • Project designing, testing, and commissioning work with both current equipment configuration modifications and new systems.
  • Labor-hour estimation, work planning, scheduling, coordination, and reporting.
  • Act as corporate resource for automation system developments and implementations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering/Electrical Engineering Technology diploma.
  • 5+ years' related work experience
  • Experienced in PLC and HMI systems design, programming, commissioning and start up including system hardware selection, I/O panels and subsystems layout and wiring.
  • Proficient in Allen Bradley PLC and HMI programming, preferred.
  • Siemens programming experience would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of industrial ethernet networks and network communication standards.
  • Knowledge of control and distribution panels, switchgear, and MCCs.
  • Excellent analytical, technical, problem-solving, research and teamwork skills.
  • Computer skills - AutoCAD, MS Project, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Organizational skills - managing projects.
  • Some travel to various sites in North America will be required
