Job description

Seeking a permanent Applications engineer for a machine builder in the Muskegon, MI area. The Applications Engineer will support sales by responding with competitive solutions and quoting. This role includes assisting with the mechanical conception of automated equipment and cells, calculating system costs, drafting proposals and interfacing with clients.
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Business Development team to understand customer needs and develop strategies.
  • Review RFQs and generate value-added solutions with the team.
  • Assist with the mechanical conception of automated equipment and cells.
  • Calculate system costs and draft detailed proposals.
  • Develop proposals and presentations, and create clear project scopes.
  • Confirm project schedules and create comprehensive quote packages.
  • Prepare machine quotes, including cycle time analysis, CAD layouts and cost sheets.
  • Estimate labor hours and hard costs for automation equipment.
  • Interface with clients to ensure their needs are met.
  • Attend internal kick-off meetings and calibrate standard cost models.
  • Maintain knowledge of designs, manufacturing processes, and automation/robotic equipment.
  • Continuously improve work processes and individual performance.

Skills & Knowledge:
  • Self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM, Solidworks, and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work independently or in a team.
  • Experience in Mechanical Engineering is a plus.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related business field.
  • Experience in the industrial automation industry preferred.
  • Experience in machine design or building, and with SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD or similar software preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and control systems in automation.
  • Prior experience in preparing quotes and RFQs.
  • Valid driver’s license and authorization to work in the U.S.
